Their marketing, their rules. But I find Apple are fooling themselves one will retire a dedicated tool over an iPad. I've tried sculpture and the piano once I was younger, nowadays a photographer and love my turnover, my dusty music and movie discs, my fountain pens, and my cello. Replacing them to a screen with stylus could well mean the future as they propose, but ultimately the advert leaves the feeling the quality, detail, interaction, perception of art, and the enjoyment as a whole I have asssociated to the tools are also being compressed. One can be a *techy* person but still find it's never obsolete visiting a museum, attending an opera, shooting landscapes with a MF, and spending a day reading a paper book at home or at a library.

moerutoukon, 10 May 2024I don't think it was something to get that angry about...?The message was quite ambivalent as to whether everything is being crushed into the iPad Pro or is destroyed and replaced by the iPad Pro. People may not like the latter.

Creativity is in our DNA at Apple 😂😂😂

                    A short conclusion:
This ad left me feeling uncomfortable as I like photography and I didn't like it when I saw the cameras and lenses getting crushed.

                    Longer explanation:
I totally get the point of the ad, which is that iPad Pro has all those creativity and artistic souls compressed into its 5mm chassis, but the message was very poorly communicated to the audience.

The footage emphasises the fears of unstoppable forces by showing an entire minute of these tools slowly getting crushed into oblivion - A mascot character inside an old TV notices something is wrong, then a millisecond later it explodes. A figure-drawing mannequin bends back as it can't resist the falling ceiling. An emoji almost manages to escape but still gets crushed by the press. An arcade machine briefly shows "GAME OVER" before turning into rubble. The entire video was just so sad to look at.

They could've done it far more cartoonish way, say, everything getting "compressed" without being destroyed like they do in Looney Tunes. I don't get why some people are trying to defend them like: "No you just didn't get the metaphor" - They *deliberately* made the whole thing look heartbreaking and brutal, so if the messages conveyed in the *methods* Apple used to deliver the metaphor somehow went over your head, then I don't think that's my problem, but only yours.

Looks creative and fun, don't see the issue with this one.

it looks like a fun video. I don't get it. what was wrong?

In spirit they wants to show a compression but what we see was a destruction.

It was an obnoxious advert basically saying they want to crush everything you know and love and take over the entire world!

Their marketing team outdid themselves. Now everyone is talking about Apple. Whether that's a good thing or a bad thing I have no idea because modern marketing is wack.
