Vin Aigre, 15 May 2024Yes but the question is if you will be able to sell it in o... moreI dunno. I'm in China anyway, so I wouldn't care about resale value as it is practically nothing for Android phones in China. I'd say my phone now would only get about 30% of its sale price after 1 year and it's in perfect condition. After 2 year's it's going to be practically worthless anyway. Apple phones are the only ones in China that get decent resale value

Anonymous, 13 May 2024Is there anyone who is an expert in EU laws and regulations... moreIt's tactical sweet-spot to add pressure to get a settlement. The patent-holder wouldn't want to hurt Lenovo's business too much (it's a loss-loss situation), but enough to get the negotiations to accelerate. Germany seems to give several patent-holder a good balance: the court is influential, compliance is strong, mid-sized market, etc.

Anonymous, 13 May 2024Is there anyone who is an expert in EU laws and regulations... moreAs a Frenchie, I can say this: Germany is far better equipped than the other EU-countries, - in regard to "Kontrollemethoden" (control methods) -, hence their feuds with Chinese companies bans. --->> In regard to the US laws, the other EU-countries are more lenient than Germany in complying to them. Germany still likes to be "in control" of itself, I guess.
Just my 2 cents on the matter. ;-)

Is there anyone who is an expert in EU laws and regulations who can explain why these patent actions seem so common in Germany compared to other EU countries? This reads exactly like when Nokia sued BBK and blocked their German sales a little while back.

Not sure why the drama on the comments. This is just business as usual, and will likely be settled soon. Besides, Lenovo main business is not phones. They probably wouldn't be bothered much if they had to stop selling phones in Germany.

It's similar to what happened with Oneplus and Oppo who weren't allowed to sell also due to a patent dispute. Once/If the patent dispute is resolved they will be able to sell again. This is not a government decision. It's a decision by the commercial courts in Germany due to a company suing Motorola in Germany.

JASEN, 12 May 2024Neither Motorola nor Inter Digital are going to lose money ... moreNot quite how that works. People predominantly buy Motorola because they end up being pretty good value as the price drops... If the price increase is too high, there is little incentive to buy them.

Neither Motorola nor Inter Digital are going to lose money on that, if InterDigital asks Motorola for more money, it will add this to the price of its phones in addition to a 20 to 50% profit on its investment, and we users will pay that.

Why do people care so much about what government etc know about what they do on their phones?
Will I get the usual of the government are trying to take over?
Everyone seems to forget that government, celebrities and everyone you seem to think is wanting to control you has only the same brain as you or I.
Live life and stop worrying for you will be the one thing we are all guaranteed before you know it.
