The 2024 flagship killers are coming.

However, what is also true is that you don't carry a dedicated camera everywhere with you, like you do your phone. But there will be moments (for which you might not have planned in advance) you would want to capture, and for those scenarios, having a decent camera in your smartphone is important.

If I had to bet, these flagship killers will not be able to do 8K24. Or it will be upscaled sort of.

Even 4K60 is not to be found, it'll be 4K30at best, and if it all, my LG G8x will be better at it.
And 4K120, I bet my life it won't be there. Sound will be recorded in mono.

Don't even expect offline AI in the real sense.

No matter what we do, these FK's are not the real damn deal. Compromises are what they are.

A phone is designed/optimized to make a phone call.

A camera is made/optimized to take photos.

Anything attached to a phone is just a peripheral. The camera in a phone shall/will NEVER replace an ad hoc camera, at least not in our life time, it's like a car replacing an aeroplane, this will not happen during our lifetime.

pl2rts, 13 May 2024I am totally stupid if it comes to camera on anything. Thes... moreWell, when comparing among sensors of similar size, sony sensors in general are slightly better than Samsung or Omnivision sensors, but the differences in image quality due to sensor manufacturing brand itself would be much lower than the differences due to sensor size. So an Omnivision 1/1.56" sensor would certainly be better than a Sony 1/1.95" sensor.

For properly lit environments, even a basic sensor nowadays produces decent quality photos, but the effect of sensor size becomes obvious in the dimly lit environments. A 1/1.56" sensor has 62.5% more area than a 1/1.95", therefore it will capture more light, and therefore will produce better photos.

F6 is worst camera phone. F6 pro is better .

RaviSS, 13 May 2024Not going into the merits/demerits of Sony vs Omnivision, P... moreI am totally stupid if it comes to camera on anything. These numbers look nice but dont meant much anything for me. For me as much as i know is only brand history. I know nothing about Omnivision while i know Sony is old as heck brand in electronics and is also well known brand in DSLR (for some reason i actually know what that is) camera markets like back in a day Canon and Olympus were mostly the mainstream cameras and at least as much i know about cameras it's that some models are good from Canon and Sony. I have no clue about. All about lenses and censors i have no clue what so ever what numbers mean what and so on

For my needs my last phone for 5 years was Redmi note 5 AI Dual Cam that had 12 MP, f/1.9, 1/2.55", 1.4µm, dual pixel PDAF made good enough quality pictures. So for now 64 MP, f/1.8, (wide), 1/2.0", 0.7µm, PDAF, OIS i dont see much difference anyways or have a need for better as i dont know what to watch or care about cameras. These random click i do is good enough if i understand what i see on a picture. Every brand have their own standard built in filers anyways.

These people who understand what all settings do that you can access trough the phone cameras settings then these can do good pictures after for a while for sure.

Even Poco X5 Pro was praised by it's camera in right hands
For me as example understanding cameras is same as discovering and ancient tablet from some cave in Egypt that is something 5000 years old. All is see it as a nice picture or patern

pl2rts, 13 May 2024Well i am in Estonia in North East Europe in EU I dont hav... moreMaybe this is a little off topic... Poco phones, irrespective of where you buy them from, be it China or EU, are infested with uninstallable apps that have constant background access to the Internet. You cannot even disable or turn them off. I said the same thing maybe a year ago, some here didn't believe me, so I did a quick research and listed more than 30 apps in my Poco F5, that I posted in one of the threads here in GSMArena. Unfortunately I don't remember which thread it was. Some of the apps weren't easily detectable, so you have to dig deep in the settings in order to find them. These uninstallable bloatware are dangerous, because they can potentially become a vector of attack by malware.

If you forcefully uninstall the bloatware, the phone becomes unstable. Xiaomi apparently doesn't like people tinkering with their units. They forgot that most of their end-users are curious techies/nerds/students/youth/gamers...

Geric.770, 13 May 2024You're telling me that Omnivision is a superior compan... moreNo, I think you probably just don't know anything about camera sensors. Sony has different classes of sensor. The sensor in the Poco F6 is not among their higher class sensors. Omnivision also has good and bad sensors. The sensor in the Poco F6 pro is much larger than the one in the Poco F6. The 1/1.95" sony sensor (0.8 um) is much smaller the 1/1.56" Sony sensor (1.0 um). It's not only the manufacturer than counts. Remember the Xiaomi 14 pro uses an Omnivision sensor for the main sensor as does the Honor Magic 6 pro. They are just using a higher end omnivision sensor. Of course if the Poco F6 used a higher end Sony sensor it would be a different story.

Anonymous, 13 May 2024phones that are below 200-250 are entry level. phones till ... moreEntry level is just a different name for budget. Phones from 250 to 600 are called middle class and from 600 euro up is flagship phones as high class

While yes Poco F series is a budget flagship as flagship killer that gives you the flagship performance and cut cost on everything else. Even tough they call these a budget flagship dont mean the phone is budget. You think for the phone price in reality for is it a budget or middle class. 400 euro is not a budget amount if you think when for example minimum wage is like 900 euro so minus tax and that 400 euro is already something 60% of how much money you have in a month.

We dont live in Apple world where their budget phone is iphone SE and starts from like 500 euro as 1 dollar less then 400 dollars in US. or they then later said or renamed budget to affordable

I dont have das in Themes. I never opened the music app

Also i dont use mi browser as i either use chrome or Brave

And my experience is from 2 phones. 5 years with Redmi note 5 AI Dual Cam and 11 months of Poco F5 8/256GB

Ads in apps is a different story. The ads people talk about i would think that the phone would give me an ad when i oppen like settings and then see an ad before i get to change something

Mi browser is an app and so is the music app so i dont see it an issue. There are hardly any free apps in play store that dont have ads.

There are even several German tech sites describing how to deactivate it because many users are annoyed by it.
