Zendroid, 13 May 2024Still not running android and still requires a computer wit... moreYou clearly don't understand who the target audience for this device is.

This is a complete portable gaming PC that's running Windows - and its specs are tailored specifically to let people play PC video games they already have on the go, regardless if they're DRM-Free (GoG or Itch) or they were acquired via their Steam, Microsoft (Xbox Game Pass), EGS or pretty much any other store. These games also run natively on the hardware itself, rather than being streamed from some other computer at home or in the cloud to its screen.

And since you brought up that it does not run Android - Like, considering who this device is even for, why even say that? With the specs the ROG Ally is packing, you can play games which are vastly more demanding (like Cyberpunk 2077 and Witcher 3) than most of the titles you'd get on Google's Play Store. And if you wanted something with that form factor that specifically runs Android, Anbernic or Powkiddy is right around the corner for a fraction of the cost.

Oh and by the way, people who'll buy the ROG Ally won't be restricted to a single operating system, which is the case with the vast majority of Android devices. You could also reinstall Windows, or install a different operating system altogether like Bazzite, which is basically Linux with Steam Deck's UI and some really useful added functionality which even lets you run an entire install of Android itself via Waydroid! It's a PC! Anything goes!

Dont buy anything from ASUS. Their RMA process is a complete scam, the company needs gutting.

Just give it expandable storage and it'll be fine. Most people aren't gonna pay the premium for extra storage. If you want another model, make an ally lite thats smaller and slower. People would 100% buy that

Still not running android and still requires a computer with games at home.

So it's still not worth more than 200$.

            Why not make it a $999 unit with a 32GB of RAM, 2TB M.2 2280 storage?

DIY people can upgrade the storage themselves. I don't know why they don't make it available with SteamOS. Windows is bloated and unsuitable for a gaming console.
