Too much focus into the cloud and bringin minimal features 'on-die' or on-device without FIRST replicating and improving what is ALREADY there.
The root cause is because Google Asistant is so tightly integrated into the Google Android OS and kernel a major overhaul is gonna require all the AI and programmer expertise for a full and seemless error free role-out.

why would I want to watch that sh*tshow? Just to hear each presenter saying what their pronouns are? Disgusting. I'll pass.

I don't think Gemini AI is ready to replace Google Assistant, unless Google managed to perfectly merge them together. Rignt now, Gemini AI actually couldn't do many things that Google Assistant can. And it is much slower as well for basic tasks.

Google has alot to do. Maybe they have got too big or have too many products and divisions. Openai is laser focused and a disruptor focusing solely on AI. It's not enough of Google's focus. I how to be surprised tomorrow but we'll see.
