Those are the main reasons anyone buys "designer" anything in the first place - it's just an exorbitantly overpriced version of a normal product.
Other than that - resale value. There were many people who bought the original iPhone back in 2007 and they never even unwrapped the plastic around the box - because they knew they were going to sell it much later.
Now those are going for hundreds of thousands of dollars. Something like this, that is already extremely exclusive, will be worth millions in time.
