Deals: Pixel 8a paired with $100 gift card, but Galaxy A35, S23 FE and OnePlus 12R prices fall

18 May 2024
The Pixel 8a is perceived as overpriced and Amazon US is trying to sweeten the deal with a gift card. But is that enough to face the competition?

joe nodden, 19 May 2024Not a single one of these "deals" are worth it. The One Plus 12R 16/256 with $70 off now is $539. There is the recycle discount for additional automatic $100 off so you are getting a flagship killer phone for $439 and there are other available discounts like student discount, One plus email coupon code etc.

The One plus 12R is an insanely good deal and even comes with a free high powered fast charger and cable. In my opinion it is one of the best deals available or best deal I have ever seen in smartphones. I am no phone expert so I could be wrong..am I missing something?

8a already got a label of overpriced, nothing can change that from a marketing point of view. Lowering a price immediately after the launch just adds "this product is a piece of junk noone wants" label.

Not a single one of these "deals" are worth it.

RaviSS, 18 May 2024What's the point of launching at a high price and then... moreYeah, the base storage on those pixels are insanely low at those prices

Meanwhile they priced it $636 here and no discount. Brilliant pricing, Google

What's the point of launching at a high price and then immediately discounting it? In my view, lower launch price would have helped it get better press, which might have generated more interest.

Pixel 8 pro and 8 also went pretty quickly on sale at $800 (down from $1000) and $550 (down from $700). IMO these phones should have launched at $900 and $600 respectively. Similarly Pixel 8a should have launched at $450.
