Cause here in GSMA... moreYes. 7s Gen 2 can reach around 2700-2750 points at 5W power draw and around 2850-2900 points at 6W power draw (you will get different peak performamces from different phones depending on the power draw limit set by different manufacturers). I have only chosen to compare peformance of different processors at a fixed power (4 watt), and power consumption at fixed performance (2500 points). I could have chosen other reference points as well.

BTW you can refer to Geekerwan's videos for some excellent information on mobile CPUs in general and power efficiencies in particular.

        Samsung foundry is one of the factors responsible for poor battery life. Another reason is the architecture, i.e. cortex A710/ A510(1st gen) cores, which were really bad, and had worse efficiency than A78/A55 cores.

        Following are the Geekbench 5 scores for the various chipsets (4+4 architecture) at 4 Watt power draw

        2620 - 778G (TSMC N6, A78/A55)
        2500 - 7s Gen 2/ 6 Gen 1 (Samsung 4LPE, A78/A55)
        2400 - 7 Gen 1 (Samsung 4LPE, A710/A510) , 780G (Samsung 5LPE, A78/A55)

        [The power efficiency can also be expressed as the required power draw for a fixed performance. For performance = 2500 points, the respective power draws are:

        3.6 watts - 778G (TSMC N6, A78/A55)
        4.0 watts - 7s Gen 2/ 6 Gen 1 (Samsung 4LPE, A78/A55)
        4.3 watts - 7 Gen 1 (Samsung 4LPE, A710/A510) , 780G (Samsung 5LPE, A78/A55) ]


        At a fixed power consumption, 7s Gen 2 has 4-5% lower performance than 778G due to Samsung node. 7 Gen 1 loses a further 4-5% performance compared to 7s Gen 2 due to more inefficient architecture i.e. A710/510. That's why Qualcomm went back to A78/A55 for 6Gen 1 and 7s Gen 2.

        In terms of power efficiency, A715/A510(2nd gen) is equivalent to the A78/A55 cores, and A720/A520 are the first real improvements.

            Bad battery life on Samsung made chip, blame on Samsung not the chip designer or the phone oem.
            Bad battery life on TSMC made chip, blame on chip maker or the phone oem not the chip maker.

                  Well this 7 gen 1 is a trash chip and all probably take more energy cause need to use the performance on it's limit. I dont understand what other reason can there be to eat energy like this when D9200 that is a flagchip chip dont eats just a bit more then half of it. Even 8 gen 2 dont seem to eat the energy so much as close to same number as this Nubia Flip with 600mAh smaller battery size

                  It feels like there is short circuit with the 7 gen 1

                    Honestly not too surprising considering ZTE's software has never been known for being efficient, e.g. the Nubia Z50 was known for weak battery life despite a large battery and efficient internals.

                        I will remember the battery life performance of this smartphone and get the motivation 💪 to keep my head up and achieve all my goals

                          Puke battery life. The only device worse than this on GSMArena's database for their new battery life test is the Huawei Pad 13.2".

                            All gen1 are really bad SoC.
                            Samsung+ARM magic has done wonders here.

                                samsung fabricated chips has made a 4310mah battery lasts like 2000mah 😹😹 they could've used mediatek to maintain cost.

                                  7 gen 1 was made in a Samsung foundry right? That explains it. I bet the thermals are sub par as well

                                    That battery life is miserable considering the capacity this phone has.
