Anonymous, 01 Jul 2013Just because they didn't use it for water proofing does not... moreOk, I correct my statement, OLED is rather not suitable for water-resistance device because water is one of the weakness of OLED, and yes you are able to found water proofed OLED device in Google, but OEM will still prefer TFT then OLED for water proofed device because of this reason. Water won't kill an normal OLED display "instantly", but in long term water may damage the display.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OLED#Disadvantages

Though OLED is keep on improving, but as for now, TFT is still the best option for water proofed device.

AnonD-11269, 01 Jul 2013do your homework, amoled consumps more energy while produci... moreAMOLED with "White Magic" should solve it. Four subpixels red, green, blue, white. When displaying white image only the white subpixels are turned on thus saving energy.

AnonD-115286, 01 Jul 2013OLED can't be used on water-proofed or water-resistance dev... moreJust because they didn't use it for water proofing does not mean it cannot be.

The regular non water proof Amoled version of the S4 lasted over two hours in a cup of water before it shut off. Then it was wiped dry and put in rice for a couple days and was fine.

rJ, 01 Jul 2013The only thing holding me back from buying a sony smartphon... moreOLED can't be used on water-proofed or water-resistance device because it is "Organic" (Organic LED), as you can see Samsung is also using TFT display on the S4 Active as well.

So as long as Sony is "playing" the water resistance/proofed marketing "trick", Sony will continue stick with the TFT display.

AnonD-115286, 01 Jul 2013Then ppl will sing (to Sony), "..I never have a dream... moreI think it was very unfair to do to ZU, but I believe they will not do it with Honami.

There are some surprising draw backs to Zu, but I hope and believe Honami will deliver and be a real jump back in for Sony. I don't quite believe about the 4k and 20mp especially if it's only going to be 6-8mm, but we will see.

"..I never have a dream come true, till the day that I found you...."

Lol, anyway, this seems good in spec, but I'm doubt about the battery since Sony only put a 3000mAh battery on the 6.4" ZU, will Sony really put a 3000mAh battery on this Honami too?

I doubt it, if it is true, then it is good for Honami but it will be rather weird and unfair to ZU.

Even back with the S1 Amoled was great under sunlight.
The new ones have improved. Especially the S3 and now really the S4.

AnonD-11269, 01 Jul 2013do your homework, amoled consumps more energy while produci... moreOk? That doesn't neglect what they said. Just shows your ignorance. Amoled can still be overall less power consuming. With average to dark colors it uses less. With deep darks it uses little to no power. They use darker or contrasted UI's for them. Not everyone gets on the internet all day. And you can invert the browser too, which I tend to like at times anyway.

Samsung is no bye bye, because he is going to copy all new features ( http://sonyviet.vn/2013/07/lo-...uay-phim-4k/ ) they can see in this link and improve a little bit, so they can say, WE INNOVATE. Typical Sammy strategy. Go Sony!

This phone should be able to perform well under direct sunlight as well as indoors.. should be better.

The only thing holding me back from buying a sony smartphone after my Sony Xperia Arc is the Display. Sony should have gone for AMOLED/OLED display this will as well help improve battery life.

It is very promising and I'm quite interested to see how well X reality works with actually filling in pixels. I would Imagine that would use more battery though. Could be very comparable to Amoled.
