Anton .el PAPI., 28 May 2024That one doesn't live in LATAM, I assure you...Nah, I was curious as well and asked him then told me "once you tell them they're the new Huawei (because they are) everybody end up buying them" and that the most sold phone is a 256GB version of the X6a.

I guess the trick is to add a lot of storage/ram to any piece of garbage and it'll sell

As a sidenote - the graphic shows that for every 15 laptops sold worldwide, 11 tablets are sold. Something to remember when commenters on GSMA say tablets are useless or dead etc.

Anonymous, 28 May 2024I don't think Motorola brand competitive enough.Yep, I've believed for a while now if Motorola changes it's mobile phone name to Lenovo they would increase sales overnight. Lenovo has that big international respect Motorola doesn't have anymore.

Dudubiel, 28 May 2024Here in Brazil you only see people with iPhones on the streets!Lies, most people in Brazil has low end and midrange Samsung phones, then Motorola as 2nd, also mostly low end and midrange, Apple is third in sales and 4th is Xiaomi.

Flagships forget Motorola, most people who buys flagships in Brazil only buy Samsung and Apple.

Infinix by Transsion in Brazil is almost to non existent, and much less Honor, nobody can compete with Samsung, Motorola and Apple here, the average Brazilian consumer won't buy unknown new brands over established big ones.

                    Good

I just hope Honor dies. Their low-midrange stuff is lame, to say the least. People who buy Honor literally just buy whatever. They have nothing over Xiaomi or Motorola

As for Transsion, at least, I have seen them trying to be originals, so middle of the road for me.

Samsung sells due to long term brand exposition & support, and Motorola due to their recent solid midranges.

I'm quite surprised to see Apple grouped into the other category. I'd expect them to do well among urbanites like they do in economically comparable regions (SEA and MENA come to mind) and end up on the leaderboard.

Note 2: I'm amazed that the Chinese phone makers are successfully making a play in LATAM, given that the region generally uses the same frequencies as the US and Canada (and not the rest of the world), while being unable to support the high profit margins of those regions. Given the high upfront costs of frequency certification, it makes you wonder if Xioami, Transsion, and the like are actually making a profit, or are just trying to box out Samsung (and to a lesser extent, Lenovarola).

we see a huge increase everywhere recently because of it thanks to Transsion.

If you look at Q3 2023, that's when the Infinix Note 30 series, GT series, Tecno Pova 5 series, Camon 20 and itel S23 phones were released. All of them are nice cheap phones.

Honor and Transsion made insane growth. Honor with almost 300% (293 rounded) and Transsion with 220% (215 rounded).

Keep it up Transsion. People want to eat what your cooking

Insane to see Motorola top 2. Hopefully they can keep it as the countries develop

Compare LATAM to US/Europe and then LATAM to Asia, that'd be an awesome comparison I think. I believe the American market has greatly swayed the stats in the worldwide comparison due to the insane amount of iPhone sales.
