The camera islands themselves should be bigger than on the Fold5, and they have new rings around them as you can see.
Such a big camera hardware update😂

People who would use the camera a lot tend to have real cameras. Phones do other things, as well, and, I know that this is a minority opinion, are used by a lot of us to make and receive phone calls.

Yielar, 30 May 2024Lots of other options out there. Just because you can'... moreYou misunderstood my comment, perhaps intentionally. I expect to be insulted, mocked and degraded on these tech blogs. In any case, I would buy one if I could but I can't, not for a device that is designed to only last a few years if even that. That's not even mentioning the risk that an android operating system update could ruin it, that the screen will likely loose pixels over time. I wouldn't be reading about it if I weren't interested in the concept of a folding phone. I use a Sony 5iii. It's great in my pocket but too small to enjoy reading. If it fold had a user replaceable battery, I could justify the cost somewhat as the device would last longer. Eventually these things will probably replace laptops. They aren't there yet. I'm not saying that it shouldn't be made. I will say that there should be strict registrations on planned obsolescence.

First foldable I would seriously consider. Finally they designed a wider front screen form factor as the Fold 1-5 was much too narrow. Looks like they've finally improved the rear cameras which were also seriously lacking for a high-end flagship phone. Hopefully they've found a way to shave some more weight off. Looking forward to checking this phone out when it launches.

Some Anonymous Prson, 30 May 2024Most of us can't spend that much for a phone. Lots of other options out there. Just because you can't afford something doesn't mean it shouldn't exist. What a crazy mentality.

DarlingYext, 30 May 2024Looking like a Sony phone We're supposed to hate Sony phones for some reason. Most of the people posting about them mock them and insult their users I like mine, though. It has expandable memory and a headphone jack. I do find it to be too narrow, though. 5iii. The 1 VI won't be available where I live and it's expensive, anyway.

DeepIn2U, 30 May 2024Samsung did NOT loose sales in foldable market last year.
... moreI'm assuming you were responding to my post and forgot to link me. All good. I make that mistake all the time.
Your 1st paragraph contradicts your 4th, your 2nd paragraph is based off quarters as opposed to a full year and your Aug 8th link is only pre-orders. Why reference an article about pre-orders and estimates for '23 when we're already in June 2024? We know 2023 sales. Estimates and pre-orders don't matter now. I'm writing about results.
Total foldable sales in '23 was 15.9 mill. Sam's cut was 66.4%. You know that. You wrote it in your 1st paragraph. In 2022, Samsung sold 12 million+ foldables. So Samsung lost 1-2 million sales in '23 vs. '22. We agree 10 million is less than 12 million or no?
If the word "lost" makes you uncomfortable, I will put it another way. The Z5 sold 1-2 million less than the Z4. They have to cover that number before they see an increase and it's possible they might sell 1-2 million less in '25.

The only foldable I'm interested in is the Z Fold6 FE. It's going to be at or less than 1000 USD. It's also the first "budget" book-style foldable AFAIK. Should come with a Snapdragon rather than an Exynos (21/2200). 7 or 7+ Gen 3 is the perfect candidate for it. For those yelling MediaTek, they only use Dimensity 6xxx and Helio G8/9x series.

Samsung did NOT loose sales in foldable market last year.
Z Flip 5 was the TOP selling of its category and the Z Fold 5 sold considerably well.
In 2023 Samsung foldables had already reached 10+ million shipped/sold.
Q3, 2023 Results:
URL: https://www.androidheadlines.com/2023/12/q3-2023-record-foldable-sales.html
"Thanks to the arrival of the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5, shipments grew a whopping 215% quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) from Q2 and 16% year-on-year (YoY) from the same period last year. Unsurprisingly, Samsung was the biggest foldable vendor this past quarter. However, its market share dropped a little compared to Q3 2022.
Samsung, whose market share usually peaks in the third quarter thanks to new arrivals, accounted for 72% of all foldable sales in Q3 2023. It also had the top two best-selling models—Galaxy Z Flip 5 with a 45% share and Galaxy Z Fold 5 with a 24% share. No other vendor or foldable model reached a 10% market share this past quarter. Huawei and Honor followed the Korean firm distantly."

Samsung boasts record-breaking Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 preorders
" Samsung reports that it has amassed 1.02 million foldable preorders in South Korea, shattering its previous record of 970,000.
The majority of them, 70%, fall into the Galaxy Z Flip 5's corner.
Samsung estimated 30 million foldables sold in 2023 but sold its Flip 5 short by only anticipating it would account for 65% of those sales."
^ that's just in South Korea ALONE!
"Samsung's interest in how well its foldables perform was a topic of discussion with the company's mobile chief TM Roh when he discussed the work being put in to incorporate dust resistance for the devices. Roh estimated the company would reach "30 million units in cumulative global sales" in 2023. However, he added that the Flip 5 would likely take the cake and account for an estimated 65% of those sales.
We're now seeing the Flip 5 surpass that estimation by 5%, which matches the performance of the brand's Flip 3 performance in 2021."

They definitely reworked the hinge area and slimmed down the gold/silver frame. I'm excited with what I see so far and I'm looking forward to the upgrade. This will be their best selling Z, but they need to sell 13 million+ at a minimum or they will just be recovering most of what they lost last year.
