ARM announces v9.2 X925, A725 and A520 cores to power next-gen flagships

The Cortex-X925 replaces the Cortex-X4, as well as the new Cortex-A725 and Cortex-A520.

Wow, this should allow the next gen of android SoCs to be more like the previous one, for example the 8 Gen 2. The 8 Gen 3 was kind of like the 8 Gen 1 and some others before it, pushing an efficient node to inefficient territory. The shift to a more efficient node should allow better performance at lower power cost and so lower battery and temps. Good stuff.
More performance ain't necessary on android anymore, just need more efficiency so we can get more battery life.

Hope we can get phones that can give at least 8.5+ hours of gaming and get close to the 15 Pro Max or the Xperia 1 VI. That'd be great. 13 hrs of web browsing, 19 hours of videos and 8.5 hours of gaming as a base result should be expected of the next gen, especially Xiaomi, they need to get their battery game up, either in terms of raw capacity or optimisation. Oneplus and Vivo are getting ahead by doing both.

I read elsewhere that they're making it consistent as in X925 for high performance, A725 for middle cores, maybe A525 for small ones although they didn't reveal any of the latter here.

                    "2023 Premium Android" means Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Snapdragon 8 Gen 2's GeekBench 6 single-threaded score: ~2000. 36% faster makes it ~2720.

                    That's going to be an interesting fight between Qualcomm's Snapdragon X Elite and this uArch which Mediatek will use. It could also one of the biggest performance uplifts that Android devices have seen in over a decade.

                    Still well below what Apple offers (~3200 in GB6 for Apple M3) but we are going to land much much closer to Apple than ever before.

                      Would be something if they make a chip that is just as fast as SD8G2 or so, but waaaay more efficiënt so that your phone will last more than a day.

                        Smartphones are now becoming next gen handeled console.
                        Maybe can do cpu intensive task easily.

                          Would that performance boost put it finally ahead of Apple in single core performance? Anyway, that's a weird naming for the prime core. There was nothing wrong with just calling it X5.
