Why do they keep releasing different versions of the Helio G90/99? What even is the difference between the "Ultra" G91/99 and the regular one?

potato4k, 04 Jun 2024Generally yes. Cheapest 5G from Mediatek is Dimensity 700/6... moreG90, G95 and G96 too. Unisoc has UFS storage support on their 4g socs.

As for Qualcomm, 4gen2 is UFS. SD695 technically supports eMMC, but OEMs seem to always opt for UFS. In general, yeah, if you're not sure, just get a 5G phone, and you won't get eMMC as well. If you don't need 5G, your option is only to get phones with Helio G99 as that's basically the only common 4G SoC left that is UFS. Any other non-Dimensity Mediatek SoC other than G99 is eMMC (G91, G85, etc).

And developing country 4G users will be screwed when they visit crowded cities. Their 4G connection will take minutes to respond lol.

All 5G SoCs from Mediatek and Qualcomm all support UFS and don't support eMMC, so you know you won't get shafted on the storage side.

Anders, 03 Jun 2024I remember when you, and many others used to consistently r... moreFor some strange reasons, the Galaxy A15 and A25 I tried didn't seem that bad. Don't know if due to UFS or lack of updates but they managed to open multiple apps and swap quickly as if they're like the A35 and A55.
Pricing is just a bit whack for brand new but the used markets get crazier as if users these days get bored really fast.

                              Upgrades
                              - more base RAM

A76 is a HUGE improvement over A75 (~60% more performance iso-frequency) and the minimum a phone in 2024 should have. (Just for reference, A78 yield 30% more performance iso-frequency when compared to A76).

DarlingYext, 03 Jun 2024G91 Ultra, yeah Ultra lagfest with eMMC storage lmaoI remember when you, and many others used to consistently reply to my comments, moaning at me for being too negative about new phones being BS...

Now it seems many of you have come around to my way of thinking. The quality of the phone market has rapidly gone downhill in the last 3/4 years.
