Ouifuf, 06 Jun 2024Must depend on your country. I'm on the xiaomi website... moreI never said it's not happening with those companies right now, but rather it was never something that has happened historically with Chinese phones.

A family member got a free wireless charger with their S10 and a free VR headset with their S7 Edge and the S8, Note 5, S22 Ultra all were bought for far cheaper than their MSRP. So yeah, I've historically seen Samsung do this. I've also had family members buy HTC One M8, LG G3, lots of Xiaomi, Apple, Vivo, Oppo and Realme phones yet none of them have ever been at a high or even moderate discount. Granted most were mid rangers. Yet the Samsung midrangers like A50, Galaxy Alpha, M30, etc. of family members were still discounted for like 10-20%, that's a lot for a midranger, already cheap and becomes very cheap.

But it does look like most of them don't tbf. But if I look at huawei, honor, oneplus, or oppo. They all have a bunch of freebies or extra stuff bundled with their products. Other companies like Motorola samsung and Sony also do it but that's just to compete. I don't live in a country with many brands so the competition is scarcer than say east Asia

I have followed Chinese phones since Xiaomi's Redmi 2 and no, they haven't done that. They have early bird discounts, not huge freebies, at least not worldwide. That's what Samsung does and what Sony does. They know their phones aren't worth that much and so provide freebies to actually make the purchase worth the price.

Chinese phones have been so cheap for the most part that they just could not afford to put in freebies or discounts until like the Find X/Mi 10 Pro came and had jacked up prices, even then they still didn't lower prices that much after launch. I think you're talking about general Chinese products, with which I will agree, but not Chinese phones.

The new thing is that consumer knows that they want and not willing to pay for overpriced things

Nikojas, 05 Jun 2024For a OnePlus 11 they give £84. Hardly a deal!WoW i traded a redmi 12C for roughly 200 euros, they added another 100 euros on top of the tradein value(around 100) as early bird promotion thats why i said they give you at least 200 euros, maybe the early bird promotion finished already...

Bad price product always get discount fast.

Many countries tax luxury products and I think thats awesome, cause people buying a ferrari can afford to pay a bit more for tax, while people buying old fiats can not
Some contries consider alcohol, tabacco...in that category

I picked up the pixel buds pro for around $110, which is actually crazy good pricing in my joke country with overbloated tax burden on "premium products", a few months ago.
Zero regrets, it's one of the best TWS I have used, for this price segment.

I'm on the fence to plonk for one of those "enthusiast" IEMs if I find a good deal, but until then these will suffice.

Sbsjfbdidnfd, 05 Jun 2024Same in my country, Samsung release a55 at $370 for 8/128, ... moredaaamn that's awesome, over here I got like 40 dollar price cuts for the A series phones, I think they just ignore the A series phones a little bit ig.

Nikojas, 05 Jun 2024Annoying that it’s US only and in Europe it’s full price. Who buys Pixels outside the US anyways? Too many hw/sw features, that prolly count towards retail price, that only work in the US.

And then we will get sale statistics where they will count as sales at full price and articles about how people are buying 1000$+ phones (when on reality they buy them for like 600)
