Anonymous, 16 Jun 2024You are the one who introduced a separate discussion. My or... moreI guess the problem is both of us, as clearly we both are only interested in pushing our own verbal agenda.
Actually, I do understand your point. Which is precisely why I replied back with "CMF is 100% focused on design", as to indicate that Nothing/CMF's target audience are those who appreciate phone aesthetics. I do not think Nothing is appealing to "regular users" who just slap a case on their phones. Of course I don't actually know if most Nothing users slap a case on their Nothing phone, but this is just my educated guess, take it with a grain of salt if you want.
If this wasn't a discussion about Nothing/CMF, then yes, I think the majority of smartphone users in general wear cases on their phones, even on a phone as beautiful as the Honor Magic6 Pro. But like I said, Nothing is an exception in this case ⁽ⁿᵒ ᵖᵘⁿ ᶦⁿᵗᵉⁿᵈᵉᵈ⁾

Most users will slap a case over these things." This includes every brand and is not limited to CMF by Nothing only. I said that most users will slap a case over their phone implying that they don't really care too much about design which manufacturers are focusing too much on.

Anonymous, 12 Jun 2024I took a quick look at the spec page for each of the device... moreGuess I should applaud you for taking my comment very seriously, even though I just randomly gave you a phone model without much consideration. If I did more research, I am also certain I can find a phone that is flawless. Either way, I tend not to hyper-fixate on 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮 feature that a phone could've or should've had. Nothing is perfect ⁽ᵉˣᶜᵘˢᵉ ᵗʰᵉ ᵘⁿᶦⁿᵗᵉⁿᵗᶦᵒⁿᵃˡ ᵖᵘⁿ⁾, and while I do agree that it's a bit ridiculous how a phone has 4K but not 1080p60, focusing on these negative aspects is a waste of time and only fuels feelings of resentment towards these companies.
Maybe you should consider the positive aspects instead, like how it has a 1.5K display, instead of mediocre FHD+.
> 𝙒𝙝𝙮 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙨𝙚 𝙗𝙖𝙨𝙞𝙘 𝙛𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚𝙨 𝙢𝙞𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙜?
If only we all knew why.... that's the million dollar question.
Only way to find out is to ask the corporations. It all started when Apple removed the jack. From that point on, these phone companies have started making incredibly stupid decisions, all in the name of cost-cutting. If you have been monitoring Xiaomi phones for the past half decade, then you will know how much garbage decisions they have made.
> 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙄 𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙚𝙙 𝙡𝙤𝙬𝙚𝙧 𝙚𝙣𝙙 𝙙𝙚𝙫𝙞𝙘𝙚𝙨, 𝙄 𝙖𝙢 𝙧𝙚𝙛𝙚𝙧𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙤 𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙙𝙚𝙫𝙞𝙘𝙚𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙗𝙚𝙡𝙤𝙬 𝙛𝙡𝙖𝙜𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙥 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙨𝙪𝙗 𝙛𝙡𝙖𝙜𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙥
Well, that's a pretty odd definition for "lower-end". Definitely more of a headcanon ngl, as lower end strictly implies a low-tier chipset.
Also, I do not necessarily think it's true that lower-end phones are sacrificing specs for a more attractive design. The two are not mutually correlated. You can only conclude that phones are getting more attractive, and that the specs aren't getting more impressive, but not that one is sacrificed in lieu of the other.
I think most of your complaints is more related to the chipset. It is primarily the chipset that determines whether a phone can record in 4K30/60. I am sure you're aware that all phones with a SD695 lack 4K recording. Only Qualcomm can be the one to blame for this, not the phone company.
Anyways, you are going off a completely separate discussion. The point of my initial comment was only to say that Nothing/CMF is primarily design-focused, more so than any other brand. These companies removing or forgetting features is nothing new, it's been happening for years. Some people choose to always be bitter about it; I choose to focus on the positive sides.

NeonHD, 11 Jun 2024Not that I don't share the same opinion as you, but yo... moreI took a quick look at the spec page for each of the devices you mentioned and already found some problems.
- They lack stereo speakers
- Vivo 30 has no 1080P60FPS support
I am sure if I do some more research I will find a lot more.
Why are these basic features missing?
Sorry if I was not clear earlier but when I mentioned lower end devices, I am referring to all devices that are below flagship and sub flagship. The lower devices are lacking features in favor for a new and complex design, and when compared to previous devices you are not seeing an upgrade anymore.

What I was referring to, are phones such as the vivo V30 or Reno11 Pro. Great design and great specs for an upper mid-range phone. I was never referring to low end phones.

NeonHD, 07 Jun 2024No, most phone companies focus equally on design and specs.... moreIf that was the case then why haven't the lower end models improved in the past 4 years, especially the GPU? Some device are releasing with just a new design and a rebranded processor. 4K and 1080P60FPS video is missing despite phones costing the same amount in 2019 had it. Camera is not tuned correctly and often resulting in poor quality images with inaccurate colors and high grain.

floydb1982, 07 Jun 2024Will it have full network compatibility for the US market? If it does, it will be sent to the custody of carriers who will see a FM radio app on it and immediately vomit and tearfully demand it be banned before sale in the US, more crying tears for their apps to be installed while their programmer is stepping in the waste

The dial and bright orange colour suggest either a partnership with teenage engineering or some knock-off design to look like it - either way, just like nothing's devices, they're trying to make design statements compensate for the lack of unique tech features.
It will look like a plastic toy and will be a fad among silly kids, and that's all there is to it.

On the other hand, Nothing/CMF is 100% a design-focused, design-first company. If design isn't what you care about in a phone, then you have the wrong expectations for Nothing.
From what I see, these phones are for a niche audience, but will also attract general users too because of its reasonably affordable price.

Anonymous, 07 Jun 2024Nothing are just a gimmick company. All fur coat, no knickers. But it is these gimmicks that makes it more appealing than your typical phone. If you don't like gimmicks, well, you already know the conclusion.
