its was so funny Apple wanted our money to buy the latest product
the XS and XSmax already have the minimum Qualification to get Artificial Intelligent software lol because they use 4GB RAM, which was the standard minimum for the AI, so why do they need the update new iPhone when the past device can be new just bring an update AI application in IOS 18

john4445, 19 Jun 2024relax only ai not a big deal Well no because that’s basically all Apple did in iOS 18. Not to say it’s a small update, but if you’re not getting AI, it’s basically iOS 17 but a year newer with no additional features except from a few small things

Bro.....Of course I assumed my brand new iphone 14 Pro would’ve received AI........Truthfully, the iPhone 8 would have no issues running the AI software. Apple is just just hustling people like always......lol

I dont care for AI anyway, but limiting which devices will get AI is just a scummy move to “entice” you to upgrade. For example…
The M1 iPads get the new AI features and those chips have the same 11TOPS as the A14 from the iPhone 12s
The iPad mini 6/iPhone 13 and 14s where their A15s have 15.8TOPS will not get the new AI features

Anonymous, 13 Jun 2024AI is starting to be everywhere.
People that are using ... moreActually, I think many people on both sides of this will fall behind. The important question is how they use it. Those that over-rely on AI will arguably become the least productive, failing to develop knowledge and skill of their own. At best, they will be demoted to low level admin roles, but many won’t be needed at all. If I can go directly to ChatGPT and ask it to produce x, I am not going to pay someone to ask it do the same,
However, those that work WITH AI, engaging with it actively and critically with existing knowledge and skills of their own, will get a lot from it. I think the big question people are going to be asked is what can they do with AI, not what can AI do for them.

YourLocalPhoneCritic, 11 Jun 2024Not having this AI on my phone is actually a feature I'... moreAI is starting to be everywhere.
People that are using it will become more and more productive, and competition will drastically increase in difficulty.
People that decide to ignore AI will simply become more and more overwhelmed by the extreme competition and will be left at the bottom of the ladder.
Make your descision wisely.

Anonymous, 12 Jun 2024Who said they were slow? S21’s NPU is around 35% better/fas... moreYou are right. I meant it ironically:) Year after year Apple has been praising how fast their phones are and now those lightning fast phones can't even handle basic on-device AI.

Anonymous, 11 Jun 2024Who cares what the technical explanation is, they are curre... moreThe 14 series were just a screen and camera upgrade with a cool little interactable selfie cam cutout for the pro models alongside with even better camera layout. 14 pro’s chip was literally a15 with better memory so there was basically no improvement at all that year (due to TSMC delaying 3nm node and apple having issues with implementing ray tracing on their gpu if you’re curious). Today’s a17 pro chip is pretty much what a16 was supposed to be last year
You say you don’t want to hear about technical stuff but the technical standpoint has always been a factor to consider for such actions, whether you like it or not.
I find this more of an unfortunate event than a scummy one because apple did not expect such issues, enough to cripple a16 to such an extent. That doesn’t mean apple is foreign to scummy tactics though as with anyone else and they could certainly introduce the most basic AI but I have my doubts about that considering apple’s often exaggerated standards.
And a last side note: If someone bought the iphone 14, thinking it’s chipset will be much more capable than older iphone 13 despite all the info out there telling it’s literally a15+, that’s on them.

Apple didn’t really seem to care much about ML until this year, especially with the AI craze.
