Of course China let's foreigners using the regulated eSIMs connect to unrestricted "western" data servers. Via Chinese telecoms companies.

Just remember they will have access to all your data and you can bet it's monitored for anything the CCP is interested in.

They make it easy to discourage VPN use that they can't monitor.

But I guess if you're not, say, a German defence attaché or whatever, it doesn't matter, right ?

Anonymous, 16 Jun 2024Rather more and more power efficient chipset with light sys... morethey are not heavy bricks, i got a x90 pro+ with 4700mah and now x100 ultra with 5500mah and basically it weights the same as it uses the new battery tech so 6000mah won't be too bulky or heavy

Any seasoned traveler knows the better route is to get a Hong Kong SIM and roam in China. No need to worry about the firewall.

Well known ones are continuously being blocked, then you'll have to wait for new update to bypass, then it'll be blocked again. The cycle repeats. So lesser known companies like you did is one way to bypass.

In the past, I would probably have gone to Hong Kong and Shenzhen....

But after they did to HK protesters, no thanks. Not worth it. There are better places in Asia for investment, like Singapore, for tourism like Japan & for Chinese culture, there's Taiwan.

Just because I have like 3 iPhones in my favorites tab (I used to own an XR) doesn't mean I love it. I despise iOS but the 13 is the best iPhone to buy if you're looking for one specifically. And due to my financial situation, I'm stuck using an iPhone hand-me-down anyways.

I use a smaller company now and it's far better than the bigger ones I've used before which had connectivity problems at various times. I've used Astrill, Express, 12vpn, surfshack, Hotspot shield and Pandapow in the past but had problems with most of them apart from Pandapow. Less famous ones tend to be better in my experience as they are not targeted for blocking as much

AFAIK, VPN is like a cat and mouse game in China. If you're using a well known VPN company, servers are continually added by VPN companies and then later on blocked by China.
Different protocols are also made and updated to bypass the censorship.
