Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 will be more expensive too

YMMP, 14 Jun 2024Because the trade-in covers most of the price.Only in certain markets. In other markets, consumers are not that lucky as Samsung is pulling back in their marketing (the best they could do was only the "free storage upgrade", but that's because NAND Chips are dirt cheap).
The 5 series was already excellent, and will even get the AI features. As Samsung is likely to recycle the same camera units, I really don't see the point of upgrading from 5 to 6.

So far, Samsung has been VERY generous with their trade-in amount on the Flip line. It's been a new, somewhat improved phone with a fresh screen and battery each year for a very small price. The discounts on the accessories make it almost free.
If this repeats with the 6, it's a no-brainer again. IF.

Too bad. I was hoping foldable phones would finally go mainstream. But at this pricing they'll never be.

I won't be surprised if the higher price is attributed by the new titanium body and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. Even the S24 Ultra cost more than before because of them.

I was so close to buying a flip5 but, I gave up due to one handed opening and closing difficulty. there is so much pressure on one specific part of the screen every time I open it with one hand and this might damage some pixels in the upcoming years. I need to answer calls with only one hand most of the time so, this action must be much easier. I also had concerns about 3-4 years durability of the screen (protector peel-off, dead pixels where the screen folds). the battery life and heat dissipation were also not satisfactory.
that's why I waited for another 6 months to get an s23.

potato4k, 13 Jun 2024Even without the price increase, why would you upgrade to t... moreFlip 6 is rumored to have better camera(s), Samsung Dex support(though it is possible it will come to Flip 5 also), better cooling, more durable screen, even 12gb ram, little bit better battery life and more powerful with latest flagship Snapdragon soc.
I have Flip 5 and honestly my next phone will be regular slab phone(maybe Oneplus 13?) but i am thinking about those rollable phones in the future because with Fold 3 it was good experience to have big display when needed but it was too big when closed and i little bit fear about how long screen will last even though i had first generation of Fold for 2 years(when 2 gen was released that was pretty cheap with 999 euros and the package had
like charger, usb type c cable, usb type c to usb a adapter, Galaxy buds, case etc) and with rollable phones those should be cheaper because there is only one expensive screen, less cameras than on Fold style phones.
For me i am not even thinking about buying Samsung devices anymore because they are going to software brick their Tizen based smartwatches by even not allowing pairing those to a new phone, even Apple is allowing their 2015 released Apple Watches to be paired with iPhones even today and Samsung is going to turn even their 2020 released(and what is even sold much later)Tizen based Galaxy Watches to bricks in late 2025. If Samsung is going to back away of their plans of software bricking their Tizen based smartwatches maybe i will consider Samsung devices in the future but it seems that nobody cares, not users(at least before they are trying to pair their watch to their new phone and it is impossible and then it is too late) or even European Union which could if wanted fine Samsung for making e-waste from perfectly functional devices.

Nowadays, Samsung is pricing it's products extensively on higher end without any reason.
Hope Apple is better in pricing their phones.

It's beyond ridiculous. These gadgets are disposable toys for the wealthy. Also, it doesn't even have expandable memory and a headphone jack.
