It's been a thing ever since the good old Nokia N-series days.

Thank you for sharing your experience with the emulated / ported games 👍🏻.

I myself used to play a bit of mobile games but I have given that up completely now. Given how personal the phone have beckett these days (and how advanced the bad actors have become) , now I just keep mobiles for essentials; communication and a bit of browsing.
Gaming (if any at all) will strictly be on the PC. Once you get adjusted to 120+Hz and high FPS, there's just no going back to mobile gaming, at least for me 😅.

I'm on a new M4 ipad Pro and it gets so hot playing Mirage, that after 5-10 min it gets so uncomfortable holding it that I quit playing. It sucks the battery dry in lightning speed.
That's why I deleted it again. Unusable.

So far so good like all 12 previous assassins creed series i enjoyed every little bit of it at my home with my 2k Lenovo Legion Laptop and was tottaly satisfied.

With a Gamesir X2 Pro you can play a bunch of great games and even Windows games can be emulated, Fallout 4 as an example runs pretty well! There are also people porting PC games like Hollow Knight, which is a blast to play on the go. In terms of power Android is up there with iOS, even beating them in terms of GPU power, but the spread of specs makes it more difficult to port actual PC games as a dev. To be fair the underbaked ports on the iPhone only prove that it is not worth it even with a very limited number of phones to optimize for, I wouldn't call any of the ports like Mirage here very enjoyable ^^'

Reality..., 17 Jun 2024That's a very valid point. I'm not trying to star... moreYou're missing the fact that these high-end devices have display out and can be connected to a much larger screen (Samsung DeX, iPhone can mirror screen, etc), if playing games on a small screen is where you draw the line there was already a solution for you right there, even though that has never been a problem for people with handheld consoles (unless you're one of those who is stuck thinking only tetris and worm should be played on phones).

But majority of gamers these days have shifted kver to live service games like Genshin and battle royale shooters etc. Pay once, play forever has become niche.

We are celebrating winning consolations prizes now?

If you are using anything Apple for playing games, then the problem is not with Apple (and by that I mean that's exactly where the problem lies) but the problem is (also) with you. iOS and iPadOS is probably two of the most garbage OS in the history of tech due to its forced software limitations which ruins the hardware's worth, and no amount of barely 30FPS crank will change that.

I'm not trying to start a war here but about a week ago there was some android user, in the comment section of a different article (about apple banning emulators if I remember right), that was claiming that gaming on his/her S24 with controllers and other peripherals was awesome and that the ability to play heavy games on the move was much appreciated. Maybe it's the same case here?

However, I personally wouldn't want to play such heavy games on this small a device and ruin my enjoyment :p

Wow, now I am gonna buy an iPhone/iPad because I can play PlayStation games on it.
Apple is finally worth its price.

rizki1, 17 Jun 2024Struggle a bit I know, you know this is not a 2010 game or ... moreIt is, but still, with that resolution and struggling to load textures and fps issues it really isn't a good experience. The CPU in iPhones is good, but the GPU is not on par with Snapdragon and it shows.

Inconsistent 30fps at a resolution so low smaller text gets difficult to read.. I still don't get what Apple tries to achieve here, these ports are admirable but they are a miserable way to experience these games. Reminds me of Borderlands 2 for my PS Vita.

All performance issues mentioned in the review happen despite the device operating at a low temperature. As for temperature measurements, how hot the device runs while playing will always depend more on the user's ambient temperatures than the game itself.
