htc one have the same great sound on headphones like htc 8x, 8s and butterfly. all these four models have built-in the new real hardware amplifier made by beats, wich rises the output voltage with 8v for big headphones with high impedance. all new htc's sounds better and louder than ipads. previous models of htc like one x or one s do not have headphones amplifier. they have only a software dynamic booster, somehow a loudness control, engineered by beats, and for this reason one x and one s sound lower than iphone 4s or ipads. but htc one is the king of sound in android world. CAMERA IS ALSO EXCEPTIONAL.it's sensor is very big and the dimension of the sensor is more important than resolution. resolution is useful only for printing on paper or zooming in. i see my photos and videos from htc one only on my 60" Panasonic neo plasma. this all i need. the 4 mp camera in 16:9 mode like htc one have is like setting a 6 mp camera from useless 4:3 aspect ratio to 16:9. for example, a 8 mp camera in 16:9 have indeed only 6 mp in 16:9. htc one have a very good sharpness and contrast even in low light

The global version using stock rom from google nor the carrier for their own rom. That why you can not update without the official rom from the manufacture!

If I bought an HTC One that was locked, then unlocked it and I am using it with another carrier, is that considered SIM free? or does SIM free mean that I bought it from HTC?

MENINBLK, 07 Jul 2013Why only Carrier Free ???Because these don't have bloatware. In subsided ones (carriers) they first have to update their software, go into testings, etc. these demands quite more time, so that's why updates for retail devices are quicker.
