SkibidiMyran, 20 Jun 2024Honestly I don't think you can use it 8-9 years. I wou... moreIs not even software what makes it hard to use a phone for many years. I haven't seen any major app that doesn't work on Android 11 for example. Even Android 10, maybe.
Main factor is the battery going bust in the two or three year mark. As long as you find a battery replacement and take good care of the device, then it makes it possible to use for many years.

Shamdung69, 19 Jun 2024The Exynos chips are frankly just as good as the Qualcomm c... more😂 If exynos was just as good as the Qualcomm, then why does the Samsung's top end S24 Ultra model doesn't have the exynos chip? Samsung themselves know that their exynos chips are worse than Qualcomm chips. That's why they have put the Snapdragon on their ULTRA phone. Not exynos.

Tiramisu, 18 Jun 2024I have a midrange phone, it sucks, has display issues in 3 ... moreHonestly I don't think you can use it 8-9 years. I would say 7 years Max if you use your phone carefully and it gets "proper" updates. Also all the more better if it gets good custom rom support from the community (which samsung doesn't have after the S10 line up)
I said proper in double quotes because, you never know if Samsung is gonna screw you over with a shitty update that makes you wanna buy their newest shiny device.
Corporations don't commit to long term things unless they know that they'll be making profit out of you. I think they will rely on the AI features and make it a subscription package. This way they'll get steady income even when the users not buying any new product. This could also give them a gap to focus more on their ecosystem.
If these phones truly last you 7+ years easily then that's great and I'm all for it. But realistically I would say that buying a OnePlus flagship for half the money and upgrading after 5 years will give you the best bang for the buck (assuming that they still keep competitive prices at that time)

Welp, I hope the S25 Ultra will shrink a little. I compared my S23 Ultra (with a rather thick ESR Kickstand case) to the S24 Ultra and found my S23U to STILL be more comfortable to hold due to the less boxy design.

Anonymous, 18 Jun 2024855: $35 8g4: $240 😱Cache has been scaling badly with newer nodes, cpu cores are getting wider and newer nodes get more expensive r&d and wafers. It's only with cfet that we're sram scaling back so that cache starvation can be ameliorated and get cpu/gpu to be smaller and new memory technologies like mram will be required to scale cache beyond that because of complex structure of sram cells with multiple transistors.
