David 040882, 22 Jun 2024Technically, it should launch as the 12T. That's how t... moreOnePlus is not going to continue it's 'T' series according to reports from OnePlus Community cuz it's mainline Number series are not being successful. This has 3 reasons 1) With Oppo moving to 888 Samsung node 5nm processor was heating which reduced OnePlus 9 market. 9RT & 8T was huge success. From that device, no one is interested like they were previously due to craze for OnePlus 2) People are complaining about software update, sometimes phone bricking, sometimes update hanging phone, sometimes display getting line & main issues are battery life and Over-heating. 3) OnePlus unit of Oppo doesn't cares about People's Priorities. I mean where 7 & 8 series were peak success, they are failing now. Some people prefer flat while some curve. So if I were OnePlus, I would go for Flat Display+Gaming Triggers+Alert Slider+3x Optical Zoom Camera in OnePlus Vanilla Variant while Curved Display+Alert Slider+Extra USB Port+Extra Button+5x Optical Zoom Camera in Pro Variant. That's how you need to run a mobile business.
Back to the topic, OnePlus Might launch it as 13R cuz they won't look for Ace 4 as 13R due to same phone with some spec downgrade.

For anyone curious, the back plate material for this white color is ceramic, whereas the silver color uses reflective glass and green color uses vegan leather.

Ouifuf, 22 Jun 2024Not true at all. For me battery life, display quality, perf... moreThat's because you know and care. Vast majority of people don't.
Just look at the reviews for phones. The majority of the content is going to be dominated by the camera, photo, video quality.
Even before smartphones were a thing, there was a megapixel race.
If people cared about replaceable battery, micro sd card slot, 3.5mm headphone jack (or audio quality) half much as they overhype the camera, those things would still be there.
Sony still manages to put them in their Xperia V and I series, and with proper IP rating.
Even they focus on the camera.

Now, a mid range phone (in specs) with better advertising for cameras could actually be more expensive than a flagship killer with a flagship processor.

Camera has always been one of the most over hyped components and will always remain the most focused factor especially among ignorant consumers.

And because of that, people who care about the actual specs often end up disappointed.

This will be the 12t for sure, maybe even 12t pro.

But strange positioning as it has 50mp+8mp+2mp camera config, so it should be of same price as the 12r.

Apart from battery, soc, back oppo crystal glass, everything else is same as 12r. Even the screen is of same brightness. Ip65 here instead of 12r's ip64.

Tech Guy, 22 Jun 2024Yeah this launch globally as OnePlus 13R across all markets. Technically, it should launch as the 12T. That's how the Ace Pro was named globally, the 10T. The Ace 2 Pro, which would've been the 11T, did not get a global release

Anonymous, 21 Jun 2024You did see "top of the lineup"? Redmi k70 ultra ... moreBoth K70 Ultra and Oneplus 12 are affordable flagships that make some cuts to lower the price. it is totally fair to compare them. Now, regarding the camera, I think they should ditch already the 8+2 mpx combo. They have been using it since the Oneplus 10T, and since then I have always thought it is a poor combination that should be used only with midrangers.

It's understandable that due to the pand3mic, the microchip crisis from 2021 and the Russi@- Ukrain3 conflict, prices of electronics components have skyrocketed. But man, it's 2024. It't time to upgrade that awful combo to something usable. It would be fair if they use at least a 12+12 mpx UW + 2x Tele lens. I don't care if they recycle some lenses from old Oneplus devices, like the 10 Pro. Just stop with the 8+2 combo

The customers would be really upset if they found their brand new flagship didn't get even a step closer towards DSLR level. This isn't good, because companies need their money.

So even though it's not a camera-centric phone, for the price bracket, it should offer a better ultrawide and maybe a telephoto too.
