-, 26 Jun 2024That would be a good idea. Maybe on the higher-end HMD feat... moreI think they may stick to the AAC version, like in the 105, 106 and 110 4G (2023) variants. The HMD version is based upon the 2023 variant, so I believe they may use the AAC version.

The Unisoc soundfont for 4G phones doesn't sound bad at all, considering that it's the same soundfont ripped off from Windows. At the same time, the same limitations are there (inability to play more than 8 instruments at once etc). The 2G version sounds horrible imho.

With 14mm it better be powerbank with attached dumb phone, how the heck has this only 1000mAh. This should have like 5000 mAh at least with those dimensions, whole body should be basically battery.

Lonteku , 25 Jun 2024What's os it is use? Still symbian s30 or what? Did it... more1. S30+ based off Unisoc Mocor RTOS. Very limited and horrible.
      2. No. They replaced it with a new generic "Human Melody" possibly composed by Johnny Phethean who is behind the new HMD sounds. Most of his compositions don't sound good with the primitive soundfont on Unisoc Mocor.
      3. Yes, it has the same Snake Xenzia as all Nokia feature phones.

Who would be dumb enough to buy these model phones that have no 3G, 4G LTE, and 5G compatibility but 2G only. If people start buying these phones and then come to the United States, then they'll end up as a usless ornament on the Christmas tree when they learn that there are no longer any 2G or even 3G networks anymore. You need at a minimum 4G LTE compatibility just to make a phone call over a cellular network in the U.S.

Anonymous, 25 Jun 2024When carriers are shutting down 3G then 2G, then why launch... moreBecause most carriers worldwide are keeping 2G networks. It helps to distribute bandwidth for calls and it works as backup.

Eric20, 25 Jun 2024Ahh. HMD making same mistakes as Nokia? Releasing phone... moreThe screen size is fine for a phone like this. The main issue is the resolution, 160x120.

                                      QQVGA is 160x120. Yikes.

At the same time, a name like "Essential" would've made sense instead of this lazy, numeric nomenclature.
