They should do it just that the new electronics that coming out from 2025 will have the usb-c plug but still sell devices with micro-usb as old electronics

justasmile, 27 Jun 2024Nothing Phone 3 has nothing to do with this.I swear some people with their weird comments - Nothing phone 3 lol.

'It aims to reduce e-waste since all devices will work with the same charging cables and potentially make things a tad less complicated for users.'

Usb type C standards are convoluted. Good luck.

I would have suggestion that computer designers and all tech devices should abandon and scrap old ancient USB-A and leave it behind and move on.... And only manufacture usb-c ports and cables and usb-c flash drives ONLY

it will be a great step. one need to only carry one charger. also iphone cables are of very bad quality. As the trend hoing on right now regarding not providing charger one only need to purchase one charger for most of things which also helps save money band less of ewaste.

Good no more micro USB or that horrible thin easy to break and super slow to charge lightning conector.

USB PD can do 48V 5A which is 240W.
The highest I've seen a gaming PC use is 190W (In my case, it may be more).

Anonymous, 26 Jun 2024Does this mean the MagSafe connector on Macs will disappear?Macbooks with magsafe can still be charged via USB-C, so no. This applies to gaming laptops as well. They all come with barrel connectors because delivering lots of power via USB-C is impossible (for now). This law means there should be an *option* to charge with USB-C (atleast that's what the EU law was, donno abt this one cuz GOI is kinda dumb)
