I can't really complain much, as every phone today has more compromises than that humble, underrated, well-balanced flagship from 2017. I'm happily voting against brands by simply not purchasing a newer phone, unless I need to.

While I don't support Apple products and their delusional restrictions, it's completely safe to use an older phone of your choice, as long as your basics are covered.

Don't repair it, just buy the new shiny.
Which can be true 10 years ago, as smartphones are new and the difference between generations are a mile's leap.
Nowadays, an iPhone 12 is still powerful enough that there is no need or rush to upgrade to iPhone 15 / 16.

Europeans are into Apple as much as Americans are into Skoda cars.

Why do they even sell this in the first place, if it's going to cost more than their subpar, overpriced phones?

If they need to avoid allegations, they need to make it free of charge for all. Simple as that.

Now they can make iRepair KiT Pro Turbo Ultra Max Infinite Plus
And sell it for 1000 $€£ so you can self repair your devices as a tool kit for adults to play with like kids have the chemistry set or use to have as a educational toy
If anyone have had anything like it then they probably remember how these usually go
