Samsung Galaxy S25 could use MediaTek chipsets too

In addition to the Exynos 2500 and the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4.

It's about time!!!! I'd buy a Mediatek S25 over an Exynos.

Anonymous, 27 Jun 2024The real headache is the Snapdragon monopoly. That is what ... moreThat's why MediaTek has been catching up with Qualcomm with the Dimensity series. If MediaTek can give similar open source hardware support like Qualcomm, then it'd be a huge trouble for the latter.

I can agree with your last sentence. Even 2020 Snapdragon 865/865+/870 are still plenty overkill for average consumers. Also, there's no point boasting about x86-rivalling performance if we can't use our phone as a PC. It's still crazy to me to see very few phones with wired video output in the first place simply because they don't want to disrupt or hurt their Android tablet sales.

Having two different SoC across the range is not a problem since Oppo and Vivo are also doing the same thing. The problem is when you segregate the SoC for different region. Let me put it like this: What kind of message Samsung is giving to the world when its home country is getting the foreign Snapdragon SoC instead of the homegrown Exynos SoC? That doesn't spell confidence to me.

Also, maybe the next S24 FE or S25 FE can make use of MediaTek's flagship SoC. I personally don't even mind if Samsung want to revisit last year's Dimensity 9200 SoC.

They should think about removing the Exynos and pulling all their Exynos to their tablet market where they can provide better cooling.

This is going to cause more fragmentation.

I want to ask This spec of

                  S24 plus . Speed - SpeedHSPA, LTE (up to 7CA), 5G

                  And this spec of

                  S22 . Speed - HSPA 42.2/5.76 Mbps, LTE (7CA) Cat20 2000/200 Mbps, 5G (5+ Gbps DL)

I want to ask that is Cat20 is removed from S24 plus.

If it is there. Why gamarena didn't add Full spec?

Can any one explain this about?
Is s24 plus is slower. Internet speed?

                  First I own Samsung S22 , snapdragon 8 gen 1

Today only I upgrade to Samsung S24 plus exynos 2400 variant

I feel slow internet speed on s24 plus

I am download movie from torrent. On S24 plus . And same movie downloading on S22 .

S24 plus exynos movie downloading speed 1.2mbps

And on S22 Snapdragon 8 gen 1 downloading speed 8.5 mbps.

Is Cat20 not Added in s24 plus ??

Snapdragon 8 gen 4 will be best on S25 . People are willing to pay more money . How buys samsung phones.

Other chipseat will be worst on phone .. exynos and mediatek.

Using Mediatek would be a bold move from Samsung. Qualcomm wouldn't be happy to lose a major customer, and Samsung would show they can't get with their price hikes every generation. Although TSMC is to blame here too.

Let's see what happens in the upcoming months.

That is what Samsung is distancing themselves from. If you haven't noticed, regulators all over the world is getting fed up with the mobile industry inflating prices even though they do what you say they should keep doing, streamline every stage for maximised profits. Mobile is very likely going to change dramatically over the next few years. 200% profit margins on overhyped repeats of what they sold last year is nearing its end.

It's THE least cost of any SoC so that'll happen without a doubt. And with 10 cores at 2nm we could see something significant in terms of performance NOT just power efficiencies, especially under sustained top cpu GPU and NPU usage, maybe enough to boost wattage for higher clock cycles on app demand.

                          We shall see!

I doubt Samsung would do this. Although the SoC might be an issue, having 3 different SoCs for one model is a headache in assembling/production, software, and support. So I doubt Samsung would do this. I would bet on the single Qualcomm sourcing based on an earlier rumor about Exynos yield, or at worst, the usual dual Exy/SD sourcing.
