Does the 8a address the crushingly disappointing fingerprint recognition of the 7a?
Been through so many forums (and there are loads) for a fix, but come to the sad realization this particular feature is just crap. Had Pixels since release of 3, 7a has put me off buying another.

The Pixel 8a is a steal! Great camera, amazing battery life, comfortable design, and all at a super price. The only downside? Not many accessories yet. Luckily, I found awesome skins and a screen protector from Gadgetshieldz to keep my phone looking good and protected from scratches.

When my wife bought the 3a it was a game changer in terms of performance and camera from her previous make of phone. The upgrade from the 3a to the 7a was a bit underwhelming though, sure the camera software is good but the 7a is heavy and the mobile network reception compared to my Motorola G84 (on the same network provider) is pretty poor and the battery performance is also disappointing. Interesting that this article comparison didn't mention mobile network reception at all.
My wife likes Google Pixel phones because of the security (she does internet banking) but there needs to be a big jump up in a few areas before she will invest in another Google phone and it won't be an 8a.

The 8a was at 350€ already and the pixel 9s are around the corner
Pixel 8 for under 400€ should start to be interesting

Buying a 7a instead of an 8a is not a crazy idea. The cameras on the Pixel 7a are just as good as those on the iPhone 14. A new, unlocked, factory-sealed 7a is currently priced at around $425. The 7a only has 1 year of software updates left due to the very soon launch of Android 15 but that does not affect its value at all.

I think the 7a's more squared design is better than the 8a which looks like a bar of soap.

Just wait 2-3 months for 8a, cause price will drop and the difference will be 50 bucks at most.
