Robby, 04 Mar 2025Super interesting test but I'm missing some details to... moreTCP it's better than UDP because it's hard to block by your ISP.
OpenVPN TCP or Wireguard over TCP bought it's better. UDP have more Speed but it's easy for your ISP to detect and blocks!
About Browser for Android it's very good Brave because have AdBlock er incorporated WebRTC it's closed and don't have DNS Leak! My opinion

Super interesting test but I'm missing some details to clear things up.
Als a tech enthousiast I would like to know which VPN protocol was used. Openvpn, wireguard, something proprietary by NordVPN? UDP or TCP?

The no difference in standby time is technically super weird because normally a VPN "shortens" the data packets transfered per packet send. Usually this means more packets have to be send in VPN compared to no VPN to transfer the same amount of data. More packets should equal more work which should equal less battery lifetime.

And with the browsing time I didn't find which browser was used. All the same or stock browser shipped by the phone brand? Does the VPN also do adblocking or is it unfiltered? Some software keeps trying to connect to the internet despite the connection being blocked (looking at you Redmi;) ) this could also explain the higher "workload" on a phone when actively using the VPN or perhaps it's just a difference in SoC with cryptography acceleration efficiency

Stu, 10 Feb 2025Stealth protocolStealth Protocols it's for Obfuscation and it's using only kind a you're mobile operator it's blocking connexion (UDP) User Datagram Protocol. Stay with Smart Protocols and you have problems with this connexion use manually (TCP)Transmission Control Protocol! Example Wireguard over TCP or OpenVPN TCP and last option it's Stealth protocol!
Good lock! Attention to your Browser because you don't have WebRTC Leak or in meniu of your telephone - Network and Internet the last option it's Private DNS and you have to put to Off .

                            1. Application it's Not Transparent Open Source and have 2 Hidden Trackers from big G in App and 19 Permission in your Phone
                            2. App don't have an AdBlock er and I don't have Multi Hop Connection
3 It's Own by Kape Technology and I think it's very expensive for what offer!
Proton it's a good alternative have now very Decent Price and have the most big VPN infrastructure 8800+ Servers in 111 Contry, Open Source App ,Secure Core (MultiHop) ,Tor Over VPN , P2P , Port Forwarding ,NetShild

Yes it's expensive, but it's the best, and you get what you pay for.

I previously used Proton, specifically because they didn't have data-allotment caps, and I didn't need the Geo-spoofing features.
All the other Free(mium) VPNs I wouldn't trust. They all seem like the VPN version of click-bait, and have suffered multiple security breaches.

Missing 2 feature for Android now Multi Hop Connection ( for iOS it's available ) and Mock Location. Adroid have Split Tunneling and VPN it's allocate IPv6 , have a very good AdBlock er.
                                For 5.27USD for a month it's perfect!
I don't know what is capabilities of Streaming Platform but for protection and privacy overall it's perfect VPN with reasonable price. Mullvad have just 8 permission in your phone don't have any tracker's 0 found, Application it's Open Source and don't require anything email address ,password or another personal information! Great job!

I use Mullvad. I have noticed that the servers they own are much faster than the hired ones.

I think the battery life of the device depends on the OS. Apparently Motorola had the coolest OS of the devices above.
I am on LineageOS, on a OnePlus device and I don't notice any difference between VPN and non VPN usage. Perhaps there is some, of course, but it is minimal like Motorola.
