I've used Poco F5 Pro before changing to Red Magic 8 Pro.. Now, I feel like changing back to Poco phone because even though the hardware is good but the software is really bad.

SpiritWolf, 03 Jul 2024I actually like this boxy Cyberpunk design. Not that I am b... moreSpiritWolf, the design is not "cyberpunk", it is simply the evolution of that present in the Sony Z Series of about ten years ago, but improved, more refined and personal. (and personally, I like it a lot)
Furthermore, you don't carry the PC in your pocket. (how could I not personally carry the 13700k and rtx4070 of my system in my pocket)
With my RedMagic 9 Pro, for example, I can play a Chorus by Fishlabs maxed out in everything, including shadows and textures in high resolution and at a stable 30 fps. (The game uses the Unreal Engine and I play it for hours)
I challenge any other brand to do the same. (they would all fail miserably after 5 minutes of SoC overheating, and with their graphics settings reduced to minimum)
Because it's not about "benchmarks", it's about putting into practice in the real, everyday world what is written on paper. (not cosmetics and advertising for pussies)
Anyone who pays attention to aesthetic and technological frills (read: bullshit) should look elsewhere.

Anonymous, 03 Jul 2024"The phones also have the option to bypass the battery... moreMy oneplus7 has this but only after fully charging. At 100% battery it switches to bypass power. when you check the battery temp its cooler than unplugged temps.
With root this can be implemented at any charge % on phones that have the necessary circuit.

That a Fan is needed to cool down the 8 Gen 3 by up to 19°C shows how hot that chip can get, to perform at max.
That means, if a Dimensity version is released, this phone would be inferior.

KAVELAB, 03 Jul 2024I like the new design (especially the plain white version).... moreYeah buying an 8 gen 3 right now is pretty awkward
Especially given that the 8 gen 4 is brand new architecture

I like the new design (especially the plain white version). I just wish they would've improved more than just the cooling and overclocked SOC, like higher refresh rate or better brightness for the display and better speakers. It's probably worth waiting for the 10 series, which will likely launch in Q4 this year, when Qualcomm releases the 8 Gen 4 with new Oryon cores.

Cool, but unnecessary. The Red Magic 10 series will anyways launch around Q4 with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, so I don't see any need for the S series, especially since there's such a small difference between them and the non-S series

"The phones also have the option to bypass the battery and run directly off external power, which generates less heat and reduces wear and tear on the battery."
Does anyone know more about this function in other phones? It is very useful and in my opinion it should be an obligatory feature to keep the battery alive for a longer period of time. But unfortunately I can't find any information on whether other phones do the same thing in background when a charging cable is connected (maybe manufacturers have implemented this silently without advertising it?).

What's the motivation for all these releases? The first ones were pretty well specced. If you can't refuse the urge to release another one, why not at least use a different chip to make it more of an option for consumers than a mere overclocking stuff?
9S pro, plus, ultra, ultimate etc for Snapdragon versions and 9M pro, plus, ultra, ultimate for Mediatek etc? No?
