Honor and OnePlus are the only alternatives in Finland. Honor was dead on arrival due to them waiting for like 8 months for global release and pricing. OnePlus more or less the same. Add to the mix software that still has growing pains and some hardware baby steps while still asking same/more than Samsung that also competes with big discounts and other bonuses.
For me its mostly about the Samsung Flex service. I had the Fold5 for like 5 months, S24U for like 3-4 and returning it now to try the Fold6 and lets see how long ill have the Fold6 for. And I only play for the months I use, only 250€ to replace If smash the phone to bits, regular warranty and I can end the contract whenever. One could think this kind of lease service would cost alot, but it doesnt really. Its the phones retail Price divided by 24. So basically If I was to lease the phone for 2 years, its like I just had a monthly payment for it. And if I did, i can then buy it to actually myself for not much by 2 years. But when Samsung releases refreshes every year, i rather just keep switching to the new stuff whenever i feel like trying something new lol.
This may not be available everywhere, but check your regions official Samsung shop online and see If there is an option to pay with Samsung Flex. Even people here in finland cant believe its true when I tell em. Personally I have no interest buying phones to myself anymore

PepperPot, 04 Jul 2024"Vivo and others need to go global, provide at decent ... moreno one's confident enough to stand up to huge established brands and steal away stuff from them, not Sony and not even Apple until they literally became the most valuable company in the world and were able to throw money at everything.
It's a huge gamble and investment, that's why people don't like change and that's why companies don't want to do it.

Why do you think they aren't doing that? Because they aren't confident they can. It's takes more than specs to convince average people to buy into your product. They don't have the brand cache like Samsung. The Open and Pixel sold so little, their sales didn't even show up when the numbers for 2023 were released.

Anonymous, 04 Jul 2024IPS? Great news! So even when the fragile bendable OLED on ... moreAgreed. The cover screen is great for leaving on for long periods. The question will be the quality.

Last year I think I paid around $100 to upgrade to the Flip 5 with the trade in of the 4. With the new large Cover Screen, better processor, fresh battery, new screen (and the screen is more durable),etc it was a no brainer. Plus I got Watch 6 and Buds2 Pro at heavy discounts.
This year I would probably still do it for that deal, but if I can't get black or dark Grey and no Dex then...
The real reason to do it is if I really want the 7 next year, I'd rather have the 6 to trade in.

wow the fold is getting thinner with 4 year old hardware, who cares? lol
If they can get it as thin as the X Fold 3 then yeah great but with such mid hardware, the fact that they're sweating just trying to match the X Fold 3 Pro's specs just shows how behind the curve they are.
And seriously, do you think they haven't planned this? They're gonna slowly milk it out over 10 more years or something at this rate.
Vivo and others need to go global, provide at decent enough prices (at best equivalent to Samsung's ones), provide discounts and be available in more areas/have more stores to be able to steal away the average buyer. That's tough yeah but I hope we get a future like that one day or that Samsung goes back to being great cus I'd rather own an S10+ till 2030 than waste money on these phones.

Anonymous, 04 Jul 2024Yep, time to skip this year's modelsAGREE. It's getting boring now and they can only advertise AI which is useless for most of the case. What are they doing for a year? come on Samsung!

Once again, I'm tempted by the boxy design by Samsung. But the spec sheet is hot garbage. Pricing will make or break this product.

I was expecting more from them. If not for the software support, I would go for other franchise and ecosystem.

Zero, 04 Jul 2024Wait... Z Flip 6 has USB 3.2, but not DEX support?Yeah this is what holding me back from getting the Flip. I don't understand why Samsung intentionally software lock the feature for the Flip, while even the base small S series can do it.

DarlingYext, 04 Jul 2024"Notably, Samsung leaked specs suggest IPS panel over ... moreThere probably either is something lost in translation, or there is a deliberate mistake in the leaks made by Samsung to try to find out who leaked it. I was sure that Samsung had leaked this on purpose, but they may have deliberately given false information to carriers (and different false information for every carrier) to see who is trustworthy and who isn't. This tactic has been used for years across lots of different markets and products.
It seems absolutely unbelievable that Samsung would use IPS in any of their phones now except for the A0x lineup, so this makes no sense, especially for a $1,000 product.
