Threads turns 1, grows to 175 million monthly active users

The new social network celebrates with new custom icons that users can pick until July 12 and keep them for posterity.

I never tried Threads because Facebook made me take a selfie to confirm my identity, said my name was fake, purposely keeps trying to get me to download the messager app, not letting you use it on a mobile website, and location for Facebook Marketplace is not counted if you are on the mobile website.

I use my phone as a phone, or as an organiser, but when i have some free time i use it to learn new stuff, like creating automation coding with macrodroid, logical thinking with other small apps. People have the perfect tool in their hands to learn so much, yet they use it to bully, watch garbage content and well brag about their increse level of dumbness. Really tragic, especially when parents are even worse then kids. This are not social platforms, this are anti-social platforms, anti human platforms, supporting and increasing garbage human behaviour, manipulating minds, deleting culture, empathy, common sense and life experiemces from the consumer.

        I've been really happy with the experience in Threads. Of course, you still have trolls inside it, but the community is far less toxic and dumb than Twitter. It feels as if people on Threads can accept meaningful discussions compared to people on Twitter.

          Parents should really stop their children from using this garbage platforms, tiktok threads instagram and so on... before is too late.

              I use threads(for fun) and Twitter(for trading). I get to talk to interesting people anywhere around the world in both. Thats what life is about. Enjoying the connections you make in this world wherever they are

He removed like visibility. The platform is perfect as long as you block Elon Musk and his cringey posts

                  Nah! i'm done testing new social media apps.
                  Those who have lots of time does those testing nowadays.
                  Most people i know are using whats app, insta etc.
                  So, i am happy with these 2 only.

                    100 million users in 5 days. Then it took a year to get 75 million. And that's with Threads threatening to delete your Instagram account if you tried to shut down your Threads account.

                      I have only WhatsApp for basic communication with other people. There is no other social media platform that I use.
                      What do people need social media for? Sometimes I see the phone screens of other people while being on a train. They scroll through videos and images which have no meaning, just showing bullshit stuff nobody understands. Their faces tell me that they don't understand why they do this whole process of bullshit watching to themselves. But they continue doing it. Day by day. Because there is nothing in their lives that could make them happier.

                      Such a sad world.

                        My Tread profile is empty, so i guess the 175m users are not active on mine 😄

                          There are only fake profiles of women showing everything there!!! If they were real there would be no problems, but they are fake profiles

                            Ads when?

                              Threads are doing relatively well just because Elon totally ruined Twitter with his X branding and his toilet personality. Mastodon is the silent winner actually. No one is talking about it yet more and more people are joining its decentralized approach because they don't want to be slaves to mega corporations and their social networks.
