HatingEqually, 13 Jul 2024I thought HMD only gives 2 OS updates for their midrangers?... moreNot really, even the C series gets 3 Android version upgrades (excluding base models of selected Indian variants), but there's a typical 3-week delay compared to the X series and G series phones. For reference, my parents' Nokia C32 phones received the Android 14 upgrade, nearly 3 weeks after the X30 and the Indian G42 received it.

There isn't that much of a delay when it comes to security patches and bug fixes, though.
Software support is surprisingly far better than other brands in the segment (including Samsung, that seems to use tech website articles and paid videos to advertise their updates, when they consistently push back software updates for their non-flagship devices).

I don't think most people are aware about Nokia's update schedule, given that they're a far smaller company in comparison to most large scale brands.

Carol-, 13 Jul 2024Ok, interesting. Nope in europe their isn't the option... moreAbsolutely!
I was also shocked when somebody here claimed that there isn't a color adjustment option for the Nokia 8's UK variant.
If their software was consistent worldwide, this wouldn't have been a problem imho.

The "4 years software support" at samsung was/is nothing but bug fixes for samsungs own Very bad OS implementation. I mean i am not against it, but you can't compare 3 years of OS updates with what samsung offers. Sending some updates on the pipeline to make it seem legit while keeping the os version to andeoid 9 is not quite "software support".

Also, s... moreI'm yet to see HMD having garbage software support (except the Nokia 2 with mediocre specifications and the Nokia 9 Pureview with the Light collaboration). All of the other Nokia models have at least 2 Android version updates. Considering their target market, all the competitors offer cumulative updates and occassional Android version upgrades with no security patches whatsoever (Samsung, Oppo/Vivo and Xiaomi fall into that stereotype) or no software updates whatsoever (ZTE, Honor, Motorola, Umidigi, Transsion, Lava and Realme are the best examples).

What surprised me the most is how they have optimized Android 14 to work smoothly on weak hardware, as with the Nokia C32.

Also, software support is not depends 100% on chipset manufacturer, it's from phone vendor itself. I mean, you can see that Samsung gives their A15 4G (MediaTek Helio G99), A15 5G (MediaTek Dimensity 6100+), and A34 (MediaTek Dimensity 1080) 4+5 years software support.

I can only remember the nokia 5 and something that had an downclocked mediatek cpu (out of whatever reasons). The device stability and performance were not on par with it's Snapdragon contrapart.

Why is this isn't the Nokia design when they were using the Nokia name. Cheated us all those years and in the end left the Nokia name to dust.

It's more like an iPhone with what seems to be a flat (or minimally curved) aluminum frame (at least that's what the teasers make it out to be) and sharp corners (though the back panel has regular curves)
