There being three phones released together (instead of two), and earlier than usual, is further evidence that Google has shifted its approach. The 9 is the new A series.

I doubt that an increase in the price tag and an identical Apple design will improve the situation. Pixels on Snapdragon were cool and then something weird happened. I think that 9 will not be much different from 8 except for the design, and 10 will still have problems given how Google likes to release unfinished products. Probably Pixel 11 or 12 will be interesting.

Just like rumoured last year there won't be a Pixel 9a. Google will release all pixel 9 versions at the same time while the pixel 9 being the entry model (former a).
