GregLu, 14 Jul 2024I don't say it's bad but it's mainly softwar... moreIt makes perfect sense to replace the 10x 10 MP camera with the 5x 50 MP camera. With the prior setup, you get good 3x and 10x images. With the current setup, you get good 3x and 5x to 10x images. It's a very versatile setup. It's likely that Samsung will replace the 3x 10 MP camera with a 3x 50 MP camera in the future, so you will get good 3x to 5x images as well.

GregLu, 14 Jul 2024On Note10+ update were interesting, bringing novelty / stab... moreExactly, the updates after OneUi 5 don't really matter. The phones' bugs were mostly ironed out and the stutters have mostly gone so it's just updates for the sake of updates now.

ik the S22 series wasn't good, I just wanted a Note phone and was sad that there wasn't a Note21 and just HAD TO choose the S22 Ultra. I was thinking of going for the S21 Ultra because I think that was a better phone. The S22 series was bad. The s21 series imo was great/ at least good.

The S21 series looked great and was overall an improvement over the S20 series which just weren't it for the most part. The S22 series brought camera improvements for the base models yeah but it just felt like Samsung really started to settle into their stagnation phase.

jiyen235, 14 Jul 2024Yeah man, it seems 95% of people don't really care abo... moreOn Note10+ update were interesting, bringing novelty / stability (even some S20 features!) but since Android 12 or 13 it's more 'polished' therefore the need for update isn't that obvious.

I'm still glad that my S23U will have 4/5 years of update :)

Don't like either the collection of data for AI and all :)

Sadly for you, S22 wasn't the best in the series, S20 wasn't that good, S21 was okay, S22 meh, S23 good, S24 meh again haha. I'm considering jumping to SOny but I'll miss Good Lock and some software features and with Mark IV, the ppi of the screen since it's only FHD.
I'm sensible to that and couldn't trade that for a MicroSD slot 😆

GregLu, 14 Jul 2024Apparently, it was depending on region, it was a pre order ... moreYeah man, it seems 95% of people don't really care about updates and security, they just say they do so they can go for Samsung/support or justify their purchase of a Samsung phone instead of others. I'm sick of it, Samsung has been through numerous court cases and all companies collect your data. No one is safe anymore.

And yes! Updates do slow down the device OR degrade the battery, my S22 Ultra seems to be dying with each update BUT I must say, the OneUI 6.1 update either didn't make it worse or SLIGHTLY improved it. Like I'm talking 1-2% improvement. I think they're improving it now so that they can nuke the battery later on. I just wanted to check out the AI features, I tried it twice and never looked back lol. So much for the hype. Despicable companies and influencers/reviewers acting like this is something revolutionary.

So many people make such a big deal of updates but the fact that it can (and most likely will) slow your phone down or reduce your battery is crazy, everyone loves forced obsolescence I guess. People support this behaviour and companies are gonna do what people support. Sad times we live in. Supporting anti-consumer behaviour.

I thought the S22 Ultra was gonna set me up for half a decade more or something due to the price, I don't like spending too much on things and not using them that much but as it stands I'm going back to the S7 Edge level of battery life after a while if I keep pushing it lol. So much for "Ultra". Support in my country is dubious for all phones so can't change batteries without being scared either, gotta buy a new phone. But new phones are so less different compared to old ones nowadays I don't see the point, I just want a product that'll last me a long time but it seems phones have lost their charm. My s8 lasted 4 years before the battery was unbearable, it had a tiny battery from the start and had kind of a bad battery already. The S22 Ultra feels like a downgrade in battery due to updates or the design of the battery. Sad times.

I don't even care about the size of the sensors as long as the photo quality is good. On Samsungs it isn't, the Note20 Ultra had damn near perfect processing and then they nuked it for "audience friendly" processing. GSMArena, Mrwhosetheboss and Marquess glaze Samsung each year saying it's better but they change it up completely. How's it always amazing if it's a changed formula and not necessarily a better one? I'm done with these guys man fr.

Anonymous, 14 Jul 2024The 5x 50 MP camera is actually an upgrade over the 10x 10 ... moreI don't say it's bad but it's mainly software update at this point, they could have made a 10x 50MP at least; perhaps in S25 to give a real update ?

GregLu, 14 Jul 2024Apparently, it was depending on region, it was a pre order ... moreThe 5x 50 MP camera is actually an upgrade over the 10x 10 MP camera. The quality of 10x images are similar, and you get good 5x images with the 5x 50 MP camera.

jiyen235, 13 Jul 2024no cable? Wtf how?! I have a question btw, all these you... moreApparently, it was depending on region, it was a pre order and at that time, Samsung was on hold with ROM stock that was low and so on ... Perhaps that was linked.
But if any case, considering the price ... It's just normal to have at least a cable and IF a fast solution charging is offered, then the charger should be included no matter the price of the device.

But it's cheeky not to include it at a 1000 or 1500 or even 2000 device! 😬

As for Update & security, I'll confess that I'm still on OneUI 5.x, didn't upgraded with the next big thing (AI) and given the returns, I'm glad since the battery seemed to have took an hit, same goes for some pictures quality.
I had a S22 (Exynos, I kept using my Note10+ and sold the S22U) and I didn't feel the need, it's a monthly update right now and I have several time some pop up to force update.
I'm wondering if they didn't try to put some bugs sometime after a while, because in the past my Note10+ still worked like a charm (and still right now), just a bit slower given the year.
But I've seen on some phone that (note specially iPhone, albeit it seems to have been the case in the past due to battery degradation (c) Apple haha) so why not Samsung after all ?
Considering how they are treating customers, the price hike, the 'non innonvation' when chinese brand are implementing far better than them... 1 inch sensor was a great demonstration of that.

Where is Samsung? Crippling the 10X by a 5X on the S24 and dimming the screen ... The anti glare is good, but not enough to make me change.
              Same goes for AI.

jiyen235, 13 Jul 2024and that's why it'd be an achievement you numbnut... moreThere is no need to be this rude and act like an uneducated person. His point is simply that this phone is very thin, which is great for a foldable phone. An S Pen that is extremely thin wouldn't be comfortable to use.

                    Reviewing what???
Its same device like Fold 3-4-5 just added newer CPU and GPU no charger in box like always no screen protector and no many else.
Uual samsung bloatware paired with tiny battery for a huge screen laughable boring painfully slow charging and many else even worse features which were already used by 1-3 years old generations.
See zero reason to buy this compared to fold 3 or 4 for example which for half price now does same results in almost everything.

How long do these foldable screens last these days? I've checked google and there are seemingly endless people complaining about cracked displays?

Price is bigger while improvements are almost zero. Same old and worse cameras, same battery and charging speed. 1 mm thinner and 1 mm wider display... Samsung....good luck selling this device...

JLC, 13 Jul 2024Why do you call him numbnut? He is absolutely right. The cu... morewhat I'm saying is, if the phone is to be thick, they should integrate an S-Pen. The battery isn't big and neither are any of the cameras, so why should the phone be thicker and heavier than the X Fold3 Pro then?

Start using your brain first before talking about common sense. Samsung is just milking everyone by doing the least amount of work and getting the most amount of money/profit.

By your definition the X Fold3 and the Honor Magic V3 should be stuff from 200 years later.

The current external S Pen is 4 mm width, and the limit for usability has already reached. How should the S Pen fit into the phone, and you are advocating even a thinner phone.
The lack of common sense cannot be compensated with wishful thinking. You can’t ask for non-exiting technology from outer space, and call out others.

A OnePlus Open is a better alternative if ya'll don't like Samsung fold line so far

                                Pros:
Charger, cable and case inside the box (advertised / based on seller)
                                Still android
                                Looks unique, and frakly better,
Has an eco leather back (wich looks and feels amazing btw)
                                Higher/Lower price based on region/seller

                                Cons:
Sd 8 gen 2 ( weaker but still strong)
Only IPx4 ressistant, but I imagine you would take care of a $2000 phone like your own child at that point
                                Only 516Gb 16Ram

^Surface lvl stuff, go read the review and decide for yourself

once the weight starts getting close to 200 grams, I'm going to be interested again. I've had the fold Z3 but for me the added screen size did not outweigh (pun not intended) its bulkiness.

GregLu, 13 Jul 2024I was kinda shocked to not see any usb cable in my S23 Ultr... moreno cable? Wtf how?!

I have a question btw, all these youtubers and reviewers talk about "security" and "updates". Have they ever meaningfully changed your experience or something?

As an S22 Ultra user I couldn't give a d*mn and all these youtubers forget that even though most of these features are baked in and are convenient, a lot of them aren't great/don't work properly. So why not just sideload other stuff? There's so many software out there that can do nearly everything these phones can and more. Howtomen is a real enthusiast and his stuff makes sense. Idk if these reviewers use their phones for more than a tree/portrait shot once in a while and some instagram.
