towhgdk, 17 Jul 2024So it's Semi-Fairphone.Nah, that's HMD.
CMF has went out of their way to show that they are not repair friendly.

Anonymous, 15 Jul 2024the back is supposed to be removable easily, and not the ba... moreExactly! I get it that people had huge expectations and all, but they should face the facts.

That repairability score is where the issue is at!

DarlingYext, 15 Jul 2024Removable back but no removable battery lmaoRemovable back ≠ removable battery. Even in the early days of non-user removal batteries, there were phones with removable back whose battery can't be swapped. Clearly, Nothing made the backs removable primarily for aesthetics (if I owned this phone, I would never use a protective case. I would simply buy back covers on AE much cheaper than the official offerings). They never, for once, implied that the battery would be swappable.

This phone is definitely priced competitively, regardless. My only displeasure is that poor repairability score. No excuse for that.

        So it's Semi-Fairphone.

          Classic Carl Pei.
A billion Youtube shills, obnoxious marketing, emphasizing heavily on a gimmick just for the phone to be a disappointment, or the gimmick being complete false advertising.

            Ahahahaha

So, the argument made by carl pei defender is pointless after all.

I look to make every dollar count. I don't think its Schrodingers series lol, but you and I are in different countries and that makes a difference. Cheaper and well equipped for me is more expensive for you. CMF is on beta in US and won't work with most carriers here anyway.
I'm looking to check out the Unihertz Jelly Max. Hasn't launched yet. Has the same dimensity 7300 as cmf, camera could be alright, fat battery. 5 inch display - I want the smaller form factor so I'll take less performance.

Cmf being cheapest, followed by moto g85, costs about $20 more but has 6s gen 3 which is lot weaker than others. You get Redmi note 13, not note 13 pro at that price here. Iqoo z7 pro costs about 45-50% more than cmf

This is for all these "know it all" that were saying - "removable back is great, battery replacement will be very easy". Expensive gimmicky phonex that is what you get lol

DashF, 15 Jul 2024Ocean of options but you can't even name them ? Is it ... moreFor the same price as cmf1 , one can get a moto g85 or a redmi note 13 pro or a iqoo z7 pro.

                      All of these are better than cmf in most areas (redmi has gg victus, ois, ultrawide lens, brighter and higher-res screen; moto has clean software with a weaker processor at a lesser price; iqoo has a similar-performing processer but has a better screen;
all three come with charging brick and case included in the box)

The cmf doesn't even have stereo speakers, ois for main camera, ultrawide lens, NFC, etc. All this gimmick of a removable back does is to distract from the fact that this is a sub-par phone for the price.

A phone like this should have been 10/10 repairability with removable battery but they messed up.

The more I watch this teardown video, the more I realize how this phone isn't meant to be disassembled 🤣

Like, they did great on the thermal job and especially the adhesive work. But this is more important for a phone whose design isn't modular.

Ok I admit it now, this is a stupid gimmick. What a shame.

We all suspected this, but now its true. But realistically, why would you want to replace the battery, especially since it's only going to get 2 OS updates? The battery will outlive the 2 years of software updates.
