DashF, 18 Jul 2024They hold too many patents is my guess Your guess is wrong, as they license the patents from NOKIA as anyone else, the only difference is that they made a contract with nokia to have access on all the pattens unrestrictly, in comparison to other brands. As far as i know.

Sarat, 19 Jul 2024I am not sure what happened to India Market for HMD they ar... moreIf you read this comments here, you realise fast why hmd has no interest in india anymore, they scaled down, and was the right thing to do so. Chinese brands are all over there with captivating names like hupa chupa whutnut, and "great" hardware (on paper) for the money... so they say...and garbage software. I am actually amazed that they slowly pull of indian market, this was my advise straight from the beginning. Scale down, do not go against chinese cheapness, change selling point. And strangely enough, now i realise they actually do it, they do not need to go on any of those markets as long as they can grow in the key markets for them, they need to stay humble and innovate towards rapairability and better software, or third party software to support the installation of custom ROMs after official support ends, not race the hardware-kilo/dollar marathon.

Misso, 19 Jul 2024Nokia will make a geat comeback if they make a 5inch screen... moreI agree with this statement. But either the majority aren't or the only compact phones available are on the flagship side, making the sales on the low side. Asus makes 5.9" phones. Still quite big, but compact enough compared to the majority, which uses 6.7". And the current result is, Asus' last endeavor is Zenfone 10. The 11 use the Ultra moniker, joining the 6.7" group. Devices under 6" in the midrange group are ultra-rare now.

Rubin, 18 Jul 2024Fabula design was the result of several years of hard work ... moreThe VP of Design at HMD was at Nokia since ~2007, why is there no continuity to be claimed? We don't know exactly what HMD acquired from Microsoft Mobile in terms of design IP either.

Unless they allow unlocking the bootloader, which they probably won't, with its only 2 years of updates, this phone will be a bad choice, although it would have been nice otherwise.

One for conflating Taiwan and China (Foxconn, the company behind HMD Global, is a Taiwanese company), another for calling Chinese phones "garbage" when some of the best flagship phones in the market have been released from that very country.
