With Apple, all iOS devices are maintained by Apple. However, there are many different brands who use Android, and each brand handles their devices differently. Some brands will optimize apps for all their devices, and some will do it per group or even per device - there are also apps that refuse to work because the smartphone or tablet is not able to handle it, or simply blacklisted by the manufacturer. Some brands don't even use pure AOSP - there's LineageOS, SailfishOS, Tizen, Android TV OS... just to name a few.
With all these different caveats, no wonder Blackmagic Design isn't trying to make a "One Size Fits All" app. Instead, they're making an effort to try and support each device in full, without forcing users to be beta testers in the app's official release.
FYI, I don't hate you for liking Apple, but I beg of you - please try to learn more about things you don't understand (like Android) before you make a post belittling something that could get you some bad blood in the process. That's called trolling, and that could get you in trouble here.

The resulting bitrates are still a joke (bad one).
The first versions worked on the 3x and 5x on the (not officionally supported) Xiaomi 13 Ultra.
The latest version supports the 1x and 5x. What is so difficult? GCam and ProShot have no problem to detect and use all camera modules.

I'd love to see BMD giving support to Sony's Xperia 1 and Xperia 5 series. It'd be an interesting fight between the two brands' processing algorithm prowess.

Can this app be only used with an active CLoud account? If so, then that would be a major weakness.
For those, who want to directly upload their videos to a cloud, that's fine to have the ability to "OPT IN" into these kind of optional services.
But the app itself should be fully functional in offline mode.
