Get ready for mind-blowing price HMD going to ask for 🙄

ShubhamDeshmukh, 23 Jul 2024Please pass on this advice to HMD if they want to different... more> Focus more to stick to Snapdragon, Mediatek and even Exynos if you want. Nobody is buying Unisoc trust me. Majority of people are smart nowadays hence chipset matters.

Yeahh, I dunno why you acted like Unisoc is bad or smth. All of their chipset (except the SC series and T603) are made by TSMC, which is the same company who produced most Snapdragon and MediaTek chipsets.

Their 5G chipsets are literally in par with (the one that used on Nubia Neo is even better than) Dimensity 6k series.

Also, on one of your argument, you mentioned about UFS and eMMC. All UFS T-series supports UFS, while none of Helio G8x series supports it — only eMMC.

So yeah, people are getting smarter nowadays. They don't judge things based on brand anymore, y'know.

Ouifuf, 23 Jul 2024Unisoc make a 5g chip? I'm shocked Yeah some of them even performs better than Dimensity 6xxx series. Dunno why people hate them so much.

By the way HMD released a sustainability report a while ago. They mentioned that half of their 2024 smartphone lineup will be repairable. If they don't release more repairable smartphones after the Crest series this year they will have 6 of them in their lineup. 6 is half of 12. So maybe expect 5 more phones out of HMD this year.

            Anonymous, 23 Jul 2024Unisoc T760? 😂What do you want, 4 gen 2 with g85 level gpu?

Anonymous, 23 Jul 2024I could reply to you individually on every suggestion you h... moreNah. They would flourish. There is a concept called ear-to-ear marketing. India is more of ear-to-ear, good word & praise is important for brand success in Asian markets like India. Else, brands launch & dissappear. But people are smart to notice faking & paid marketing, hence I would advise against paying reviewers & youtubers because that would be big turn off. Avoid giveaways too.

Basic TV ads, Internet ads, and marketing posters on Amazon Flipkart are enough. Reliable online to home logistic distributor like Savex are necessary.

Also to save costs, I said to stick to basics. Avoid fancy marketing like 200W charger & glass back. 25W and strong durability is enough.

If HMD would do the things you propose they would go bankrupt.

                  Unisoc T is perfection.

                    Unisoc T760? 😂

Please pass on this advice to HMD if they want to differentiate themselves from the pack and find massive success like Nokia:

                      1. DURABILITY MATTERS. No one is asking for glass back & shiny finish in the low-end market. Take some cue from Nokia how they launched series of colorful polycarbonate strong durable bodies. Even if the thing is not painted, the polycarbonate ensures that color looks the same even after wear & tear. Make a reputation for HMD like Nokia had, cleverly simple design yet built like a tank that will not fall apart in years of rough use. Honestly, nobody except Samsung is doing ok in this area. HMD has opportunity to make their reputation here.

                      2. STANDARDIZED HARDWARE: Focus more to stick to Snapdragon, Mediatek and even Exynos if you want. Nobody is buying Unisoc trust me. Majority of people are smart nowadays hence chipset matters.

                      3. WELL-ROUNDED SPECS: No matter if cost is bit higher like Samsung, but don't cut corners where people will lament purchasing your hardware. Example: eMMC vs UFS 2.1, RAM type, antenna & modem strength, build quality, battery backup, charging speed (25W is enough for mid-range, 18W for low-end), etc. No need to make very low phones and ruin the brand trust. Just build decent mid & high end, that is where the market is heading.

                      4. FANCY MARKETING & SPECS: Please let go of this. Trust me on this but nobody wants 3 cameras when 1 is useless, instead make the 2 useful cameras better in the same component cost. Nobody is asking for IPX4 water resistance, if you need to cut corners on basic CPU RAM instead. Nobody is asking for AI either. Hence do the basics right.

                      5. SPARE PARTS & EASY SERVICING: Make batteries available for at least 6 years & spares available for at least 4 years. Reuse same battery for multiple models. Also, have decent standardized service centers in every district. Market their locations with easy search on your website. Service Centers should have unique hallmark, example how Nokia used to have "Priority Partner" branding on their authorized sales.

                      6. SOFTWARE: Like Motorola, have basic stock Android with additional good selection of useful features & basic good apps. Avoid bloat apps & data selling. Make privacy your branding & marketing being the European company. Stick to your guns & don't share data with anyone. Make 2 alternate major updates in 4 years to save costs, ex. at launch 14, 2nd 16 & 3rd 18. Security updates may not be monthly. Quarterly else biannually for 5 years is enough. Only if budget permits, do custom clean useful UI like Samsung's OneUI but this should be last long-term priority.
