Anton .el PAPI., 25 Jul 2024The situation of this phone is as follows! You spend 1500 o... moreYes. "We, the 2k something of vocal fans and geeks who are looking at every number on benchmarks amd read the news, yes, we know what's the situation with Google Tensor chipsets"

Now compare that with majority of people buying Pixel's and the one of the main reasons why do people even consider a Pixel. It's because of a camera results and clean software. Nobody's buying a Pixel because he's a power user. Even when Pixel was with Qualcomm they have never scratched the surface for being a phone for power users. Never. It was just for the cameras pretty much and that's it. You may not like these camera results personally, but the fact is many people will and they do. For almost 8 years since the first Pixel.

So, i guess your comment is for people already knowing what to expect from the Pixel mostly because of their deal with Samsung. But whatever chipset it got it will make no impact on majority of buyers because they don't care for tech as much as some of us here. I mean thanks for the help I guess but we knew about TSMC the Tensor G5 even before Tensor G3 was released with series 8, but people still keep on buying series 8 and didn't wait for series 10 as you suggested.

And btw, is it a given that G5 will be so much better with its solo custom project instead of a Samsung collab just because they will produce their chips at TSMC? I don't think TSMC has a power to make a great chip of a chip with bad design and we don't know anything about Google's chips design. At least i don't. If you do, i would appriciate it if you would share it with us, "the geeks" :)

    Cheers!

Pixel is the worst cellphone I've ever purchased. Everyday it seems I just waste my money. Honestly speaking Chinese cheapest phone is even better than pixel. Imagine a situation- if can't even talk for 5 mins at a time- google pixel will give you.this kinda shitty experience.

I want to buy the pixel 9

Latest leak of official marketing/promotion sheets proves that rear camera is the same and have no upgrades at all, no 50mp imx858, it is still using same 48mp ultrawide and periscope from P8 Pro.

the only things that we can quite sure is it might more power efficient due manufactured with tsmc instead samsung
similar to snapdragon 8gen2 compared to 8gen1

its possible waiting for pixel10 and then get disappointed too as its not as good as your expectation or you dont like something

and then there are many trade-in promotion, like in google store themselves, just google "pixel phone trade-in"
people that want to upgrade their phone definitely wont need to pay full, most likely half of the price if upgrade from last gen, if u saying it still money-loss, if they got money why not?
money can be gained but you cant regain time that already pass

Darth Caesium, 25 Jul 2024I would like to see Google grow some balls and actually com... moreI completely agree with your last paragraph! I LOVE curvy stuff, be it cars, bikes or mobile phones. Nice curves just feel so nice to touch. And now that we have matte glass, it feels nice to rub against as well, unlike the super sticky glossy surfaces of the past.

Also, I think with the specs you listed, Google should definitely go for a 500 dollar Pixel 9a. There's no other phone with a proper triple camera system apart from the Vivo (V30 Pro). Every other phone is either a lot more expensive OR has a damn near unusable UW cam. I believe the Pixel 9a could be worth 500 dollars even with the same UW as they have right now if they can put a 3x lens into the phone. A triple camera system with a flagship G4 is I think well worth 500 dollars. If they don't have the super cool small bezels of the Pixel 8 and have the thick bezels of the 8a on the 9a, then I'd give 450 dollars at best. The main camera could be a 1/1.49" one like in the Vivo X100. I believe that sensor, although not much bigger than the 1/1.56" ones, is amazing. I saw some shots of that phone and it's just amazing what a photo processing chip can do. The same sensor on the Neo9 Pro is just bad in comparison. Pretty sure Google can do some cool trickery to optimize that sensor
But anyways, I hope they use the same UW cam, have a telephoto have smaller bezels, use the Tensor G4 and put in a 1/1.49" cam like the X100. Only then will I pay 500 dollars.

I thought your Pixel 9 price was a tad too high then I saw your listed specs and then I agree that yeah, those specs on a compact phone would result in a high price tag and it's justified. I just think instead of using 2 IMX858's, they could put in one for the UW cam or the one in the Pixel 8 Pro, and then use the telephoto sensor from the Pixel 8 Pro OR the OV64B for the telephoto. That sensor is the best sensor made in the past 2 years, right beside the IMX989.

Same goes for the Pixel 9 Pro and Pro XL, the same UW cam with the OV64B would be a huge upgrade because of the larger size. Xiaomi's reached the limits of the IMX858 on their 14 Ultra with the amazingly fast aperture and it still can't properly match the larger sensors. So imagine an OV64B on the Pixel 9 with f/3.0 or faster aperture and on the 9 Pro/Pro XL with f/2.5 or faster aperture. That'd be game changing. Damn near lossless 2x crop and much better farther zooming capabilities thanks to Google's awesome AI zoom thing.

Finally, the pricing should all be down 100 dollars. So the Pixel 9 would be 600-700 dollars, the 9 Pro would be 800-900 dollars and the 9 Pro XL would be 1000 dollars at best. Why? Tensor G4. A glorified Exynos chip should not be considered to be the same price as its competitors, the moment they start using the Dimensity 9400 or the latest flagship as a base for its chips, I'm willing to spend even 1100 dollars on their top phone, if they further update the sensors ofc. Not now though. Samsung has the S Pen, the Chinese have better sensors and Google seemingly has nothing worth that much. If I had money to waste I'd go and buy 1100 big macs instead of this or a second hand motorcycle. Less e-waste and more fun than getting a Google flagship.

Is this phone going to drop calls too?

Anonymous, 25 Jul 2024Just proves all this huge text is to annoy us all. Lase... moreSo then how come CDAF+PDAF is possible, and is being done by most phones nowadays?

Edit: DPAF combines CDAF+PDAF into a single system with the benefits of both, so combining CDAF and PDAF to a create a multi-system autofocus setup is redundant and expensive. Thus, disregard my comment.

The situation of this phone is as follows! You spend 1500 on this knowing that next year Google will change the SOC that we have been waiting for from Google and you spend 1500 or more again, because pixel 10 will not be cheap at all, and you lose money with this pixel 9 or skip this one and wait for 10!! what a mystery hehehehe

Laser AF and Tof have same purposes. Just number of points are different. With laser being single point.

AF system can be CDAF, PDAF and DPAF. You cannot have PDAF + DPAF at same time. Both are hardware level. Baked into sensor.

If you think google can give you pixel.with this for $600, you are eitheir trolling or being too innocent of how much stuff cost.

I have made an updated version now, should fix some mistakes while adding a few new stuff.

I would like to see Google grow some balls and actually compete. The Pixel 9a should be sold at no more than $400/£400/€400.

This would allow all of the phones to shine at their price points and remain competitive while also offering tangible upgrades across the board for each price tier. The Pro phones' only differences between each other, naturally, would be about their size and battery capacity, so those two phones are in the same price category.

This would allow all of the phones to shine at their price points and remain competitive while also offering tangible upgrades across the board for each price tier. The Pro phones' only difference, naturally, would be about size and battery capacity, so those are in the same price category.

Also, I think most regulars on this website know about my opinion on the Pixel 9 series' aesthetics and design by now. Google really shouldn't have made these phones flat, and instead should've continued the Pixel 8 series' aesthetic while having a matte design across the board for both the back and the frame for every phone. The corners could've been rounded ever so slightly more, but what the Pixel 9 series has done is too close to Apple's nonsensically rounded corners, which serve no purpose while also cutting off video content.
