I can imagine this comment was written by 13 years old kid, who never knew that native whatsapp+ facebook apps were made first as an iOS Apps before coming to Android years later.
Thanks to Whatsapp and Facebook team, now we Android user can have the similar popular apps like on iPhone.

Meh, Telegram is a hundred times better. No idea why people use WhatsApp or iMessage.

It may have that many users, but it's not used for a primary means of messaging. For example, I use it but nobody I know does. I only use it to communicate with friends overseas.

WhatsApp name doesn't service its functionality. Poor choice for a messaging app. Then they are owned by Meta 😶

Meanwhile, we had already had free unlimited SMS on most plans in America, while data was comparatively expensive, so there was never any reason to use an alternative messaging app. Even still, most people using WhatsApp in the US are using to message people in another country, not domestically. Given how locked in the younger generations are to iMessage, I don't see anything changing on this front anytime soon.

WhatsApp when launched was a big success because of its simplicity in sending group messages across platforms. Until then there were few other apps like Viber or Skype etc…were not this effective though they had their own limited customer base.Microsoft with all its advantage in the messaging space (MS Messenger for example) was a sleeping giant they never bothered to focus on the Mobility space (eventually dropped their OS as well, which pre dates most of the modern Moble OS Platforms). iMessages is limited to few regions which are mostly USA and some part of Europe. Rest of the World still uses WhatsApp.

what if WhatsApp, Facebook don't support iOS? no one buys an iOS phone.. we see how Windows Phone, BlackBerry OS etc don't survive because there isn't much app support. From this it seems like most people prefer the 3rd party app, which is also a cross-platform app.
