AT&T announces 'Next' program for yearly smartphone upgrades

Phones4U in the UK were the first to do this, then O2/tesco copied them and now at&t.

    US carriers always ripping people off, them suppose "great deal" are nothing but a joke, pay additional for another 20 months to upgrade every 12 months? what a rip off!!!

            what happens once you finish paying your phone and you dont upgrade? does the bill go down or do you keep paying the fee?

                    I went SIM-free long ago.

                      What I don't get or maybe I am the only that does, is how is this different from just buying phones straight contract or not? It is like atnt is coming out and this is the we are gonna rob you without a ski mask now.

                        This is even worse. My contract with att is up in 3 months then i will go to prepaid phone

                            there is a fee of $20 simply not upfront but in instalment. Other wise it would be 20*20=400!

                            The $20 fee is on the top of your bill, so if your bill is $50 the total will be $70. I am not too sure it that good thing!
