They launched early before Android 15 ships because it's the 10 series with the new SOC they want to setup. The Pixel 8 and 9 are basically a filler same device. So I'm guessing big changes expected for Android "22" and the 10 series will have the minimal hardware needed

As I said it before, it will be a while before the Pixel 7 gets properly replaced.
8 & 9 are worse in several aspects.

meaningless phone knowing that next year they will change nodes!! In Nada they don't have even a quarter of the money that there is in Google and yet they decided not to launch Nada 3 this year!! Google couldn't skip this year and launch the pixel 10 in August 2025, how is it doing with this one? it would have been more sensible

I'm sure that Android 15 will be ready upon launch. I'm running Android 15, Beta 4.1 on my Pixel 8, and didn't notice any major bug. So, they have a full month to fix some small bugs here and there. I really hope that Pixel 9 Pro will be around 150mm, as this is the perfect phone size for me.

Pixel 9 series launching with Android 14, does that mean it will be get updates till Android 21 only, same as Pixel 8? (Not that it matters much, 99% of Pixel 9 phones will be out of commission in 7-8 years).
Charging wise Pixel 9 and 9 pro appear to top out at 30W. Only 9 Pro Max appears to be supporting 45W.
The 9 series appears to be one of the most underwhelming updates in the history of Pixel phones. A price increase to go with that is pretty dumb.
Good thing I didn't wait and got the Pixel 8.

It's not much more powerful than the 8. We can only hope that it's more power efficient, because one thing Pixels need is better battery life.
