ZwanS, 17 Jul 2013I wish Motorola would dare to be different and launch somet... moreThey have tried to keep the qwerty-slider alive. There's just not a large enough market to support it.

I hade the original Milestone, and my wife the FlipOut. I skipped the Milestone 2 and waited for 3 - which never came to Europe. Same with Droid 4 and Photon Q (sprint only).

I also m a fan of Motorola & wud really luv 2 see nu Motos spotting a Qwerty slider or even a return of de old RAZR clamshell in a larger form with all de bells & whistles of 2day's 5" slates dey call fones. Der's a huge market out der but marketing seems 2 be Motorola's drawback, along with de form-factor issue. And I hope dey remove de old Moto UI 4 de stock Android OS 4 a smooth running which will be sum'n 2 brag bwt or rather 4 defense against iPhone & Windows Phone users with deir rantings & bashings calling our fones "Lagdroids".

JJ, 17 Jul 2013I don't understand people. Motorola always have new desi... moreMotorola phones are awesome. The upcoming Motorola phones seem to disappoint me right now due to specs. I wanted a high spec phone so I ended up with a Google edition S4. I also have a Razr HD XT925 and the battery on that could run laps around the Google edition s4.

I wish Motorola would dare to be different and launch something with a physical keyboard. FM too would be nice because we don't all have unlimited data and I get tired of my playlist sometimes.
This homogenuity of phones across brands and platforms bores me. It certainly alienates certain groups and limits choices and the boundaries of innovation.
And we're wondering why some phones don't sell.

No QWERTY slider? Me no happy kid. Maybe it's high time Motorola cater to this niche market while all the competition are too busy putting unnecessarily larger screens and extra cores on their bland, boring metal slabs.

Or maybe it's time to accept that QWERTY sliders are fast becoming the next flip phones - the dinosaurs of mobile phones.

                  I don't understand people.

Motorola always have new design, and good quality of material. I have a Motorola XT925 and the performance is just excellent. I had a motorola XT910 it fell twice and nothing happened.

I also have a sansumg galaxy tab plus and it fell into the floor one time and corners were broken and scratched, poor quality of material it's just plastic. Additionally, the design is the same throughout its product range and also are more expensive.

from my point of view nokia, samsung balckberry and has a design similar trend in their products, there will be some technical differences but with respect to design, prestige and quality of materials I prefer motorola.

the software in the case of motorola, sony and samsung es Android, in my opinion the battery performance make the difference. where motorola in some of their models have the advantage.

Anonymous, 17 Jul 2013Iam not into amoleds i prefer IPS or triluminus Same here, at least when compared to pentile RGBG amoleds. I sure hope it will not be a pentile, though if 4.7" it's more or less "ok enough", but a RGB stripe amoled is definetly prefered :)

Anonymous, 17 Jul 2013Why would this years flagship be such a minor upgrade? What was the difference from s3 to s4?

Very much and nothing at the same time.

Just a marginally larger screen and a better camera.

It needed higher screen resolution because it was still a pentile, that grew to 5", which then again needed more powerful HW and battery to get the same performance with it's higer resolution. Unfortunately no good SW optimaztion and still laggy touchwiz. So all in all nothing more than a larger screen and a better camera, just like every other new 2013 phone.

Still running the same games and apps, though Sammy did shift GPU/CPU type depending on region - so some compatibility issues were introduced for some games/apps for previous S3 owners.

Smartphones have had plenty of power for a few years now. And continuously getting higher screen resolutions, even though it's pointless because 1280'720(/800) was already denser than the eye can pick up on devices of approx 5.3" and lower (~4.6" if pentile RBGB). For 5.4" inch devices and higher, FHD makes sense and they would need late 2012 to 2013 HW to work well. They can also more naturally fit larger batteries to combat this screen size and resolution.

Most 2013 devices have only shown a very very slightly larger screen size with higher screen resolution - and more power to combat this (mostly unnecessary) resolution. Nothing impressive as 2012 models already performed the same. So the only point that still really needs improvement is batterylife camera and SW optimization. Oh, and amping the resolution where it's not necessary does not help battery life much.

The Moto X is rumored not to throw in a FHD display, which is good as it would be pointless on the rumored 4.7" display. Therefore it does not need the latest and greates quad/octa core to combat the resolution and there won't be any unnecessary battery drainage. So it will have the same screen size and resolution of the RAZR HD, but a more powerful CPU/GPU and twice the RAM for multitasking. Hopefully a different screen typpe as well. So, more powerful? Yes.

More importantly, the Moto X is rumored to get a clear pixel image sensor. This is a technology Kodak invented and never really got time to harvest the fruits of.

Since Google acquired several of Kodak's patents, it plausible that the new Motorolas will incorporate this technology - which significantly improved low-light performance.

We've already seen rumors that suggest Moto did not jump on the MP train with 20-41MP sensor, and have chosen a 10MP sensor instead. Let's hope that rumor holds up. So the Moto X and/or Droid Ultra might also sport fairly large pixel size - in addition to a very good sensor type.

Another rumored new feature is that the Moto X is rumored to get a Dual LTE (dLTE) Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) Smart Antenna.

They will no doubt have plenty of power, even though they aren't necessarily built for pointless HW dragracing.

                        I'd much rather have a lag-free dual-core - or even single core - than a lagging quad/octa core device.

Besides, most rumors have been about the mid ranger Moto X. Not sure how that will fit in amungst these three in the new Droid series. Price and size wise, though it looks much like a more affordable version of the Ultra.

And it just might turn out to be more than able to compete with the top rangers of others. It all depends on their marketing efforts and availability. Moto has failed massively at these points the past years.
