Just 1/2.3" sensor size? Joke of the year. Sometimes it's hard to carry your dslr in your pocket and a cameraphone is a must have. Well, if picture quality is what you want then look no further, pick a Nokia 808 or 1020. This Sony phone with just a 1/2.3" sensor size will capture worse photos.

If you want a camera buy a camera and keep your current phone for another year or get a cheap upgrade for 12 months.. even a cheap £300 DSLR will give you better zoom and more CLEAN and crisp photos then the Nokia.

Does not wash or dry your clothes properly. And yes i would say buying a DSLR would be a far superior option for those interested in Photography. I done see why you would need a smartphone as well!
certain tech cannot be merged at this point. an ereader and a smartphone being one example. a phone should be smallish and light. easy to pick-up and go. and ereader needs a large screen (7-10 inch) until tech has provided a screen that expands to accommodate multiple sizes (roller screen) you realistically need two devices as combining the two mean a large compromisation in more than one area. Like wise a camera phone. a camera need a certain size for lenses. this is in opposite to the need for a small lightweight smartphone for convenience. Don't get me wrong these devices are a step in the right direction but not there yet. Don't buy a smartphone for a camera. you will regret it at this stage as you will be compromising other areas.
A smart phone can do a great deal but it is not a viable camera for serious pics and for this reason focusing on the camera on a smartphone as the reason to purchase it is foolish. look at the other areas that can be combined into a smartphone and purchase based on these requirements. every person i know that has bought a phone for the camera has been very disappointed and i cannot see that much of an improvement with these devices to change that opinion.

Wow what a lot of pointless banter.
if you want a decent camera buy a camera, if you want a decent phone don't buy a Nokia.
currently the hybrid camera/Phone are not up to spec so why debate which is better. Nokia or Sony debate is more about windows or android. the rest is just gravy.
If the Sony Honami comes out with a decent spec that is better then the GS4 i will be getting one as the water resistant nature will be of huge benefit. if i want to take pictures for any serious reason i would be getting a decent camera. with spare batteries. the nokia has a non removable battery so you will loose both your phone and your camera when the battery dies. the MP debate is really pointless and as some have correctly assessed more about marketing to idiots then anyone with a passion for photography.
The pros to the new Sony are huge if the rumours are true. the camera is just a gimmick extra for the odd pic of your mate falling out a tree. Neither the samsung or sony or the Nokia are for any serious pictures like your wedding day or a safari holiday....!

Dude it is real. Look at the window in the back. It's at 4k resolution also and it definitely has glare over top of it. Obviously he was showing off the window in the fore-front so he avoided the glare there.

nope, 17 Jul 2013wrong!!If anadtech is right, apparently, but in the introduction video at the press conference the signal passes thru a chip that is not the snapdragon chip, be it, that its only some kind of animation.

But if anadtech is right they actually rewrote the image stack code for the Snapdragon chip to support the resolution, so it doesn't really matter. It can apparently handle 38MP images, despite the chipset supposedly does not.

AnonD-77186, 17 Jul 2013I was talking about 4:3 to 16:9 format. I know that my TV ... moreRead my read my reply!
You are way off, your TV might be 16:9, but unless you have an 8K televison you can at most see 8MP on your 4K and 2 megapixels on your full HD.

So if you are using your TV as only means to show your pictures, well, then you should have no more than 2MP for your full HD tv, if you have a 4K which i higly doubt, you should have 8MP. You would have absolutely no need for resolution higher than your TV panel.
If you on the other hand like to zoom in on pictures, then it doesnt matter if the format is 16:9, you simply start out with the pictures with black bars on the ends and zoom in to the level you like.
You need to undrstand that this unlike Nokias Pureview series plus N9, and unlike Panasonic GH3 is not a multi crop sensor, it has only one aspect ratio, there is no gain in width if you set it to 16:9 it only cuts out top and bottom of the picutre to make it 16:9. YOu can do the same thing i paint or any other basic software that deals with images, it's not some fancy photo editing, its just cutting the picture.

So please stop complaining and simply understand.
You don't even need the 8MP mode cause your TV is only 2MP if not even only 1MP (720p).
Those extra pixels in 8MP mode cant be seen when viewed on your TV, so you will have absolutely no need for that.
Someone with a 4K TV would have the correct resolution for his/her tv, if he/she selects 8MP mode.

                                        FAKE!

Notice how there is a massive amount glare all over the screen EXCEPT on the box with the resolution selection, as that was photoshopped in after the photo was taken!
