An interesting spin on "shrink-flation" where whilst prices have stopped increasing, the bars of chocolate and sizes are reducing instead.

In this instance Oneplus are essentially giving what it gave you 12 months ago. So those development costs etc. that would normally be recovered over the next "open 2" period are pure profit now. The "ingredients are cheaper - processor is now 2 generations older.... there's more storage but again storage is a cheap reducing component. And so on.

What it does offer is £100 off if you don't forget to claim, plus a £300 "gift which again is old tech so probably costing much less.

In the end you are paying notionally more fore the same gig therefore.... but it does look great! And it was the best of last year's folding phones arguably.

It probably holds its own and if you are an old tech collector like me, I'll probably buy it where it will eventually sit in my cabinet along with my original ipad... nintendo etc.

    So let me get this straight - it's just a 1TB version in a red colour with a customized alert slider, but $500 more? This scam is even bigger than the launch of the Z Fold 6

      Dumb as hell. So 512GB and a orange mark on the alert slider and you want $500 more than the normal 16GB ram version? What a joke. Who cares about your vip crap.

          At first I read Apex as in Apex Legends and thought OnePlus did yet another gaming-themed special edition.

                      After nearly a year after the original Open launch one pays a hefty premium for a software enhancement that uses an encryption already part of production, a different milled and painted slider button that looks nice, even still it's a SLIDER BUTTON! And a colour's case and back faux leather-like textured back cover that was very exclusive under the bigger brother name plate Oppo Find N3.

                      At the least that would've shown value for the premium paid would be to have the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 within since 10 mths ago the original shipped with SD 8 Gen 2.

                      The SD 8 Gen 4 willdebur in less than 4mths, announcement of the Open 2 and Find N4 is in less than 5 mths from now and ships in under 6 mths..

                      And you're still getting a phone, case charging block and cable.

                      What a premium kit should be is the Z Fold 5 Thom Browne edition. Now while super premium in price and #'d exclusive limited run ...

                      You get custom wallpapers (thus doesn't even have that lol),
                      Custom build and paint on the Z Fold 5 - exclusive and quality done.
                      2 cases - one high quality leather and done tastefully.
                      A Galaxy Watch 5 Classic to match the design theme,
                      2 leather bands to match one high end textured & treated!
                      Buds2 Pro again matching the design theme,
                      A PROPPAH presentation box!
                      Chargers for all that again carry the designer's design theme!

                      Have a look via a Google search or YouTube unveiled ans reviews and trust me ... you'll think twice to critique Samsung's custom design partnerships ever again.

                        VIP mode is quote "only OnePlus does on a a mainstream phone"

                        Please tell me then editor WHY did this colour's launch with the Oppo Find N3, one Plus' owner and driver of manufacturing the phones it clones launch back in December 2023 a dWHY is this VIP mode already On Oppo's Find N3 below?!
