OnePlus Nord 4 teardown reveals very bad reparability

The all-metal build takes its toll.

TBF most phones are relatively easy to repair at home. The hardest part is getting in. It's especially hard if you want it in absolutely pristine condition with weak points around the sim tray for plastic phones. Otherwise, everything else is easy to replace once you're in.

The worst part is when the phone rejects the replacement part. That's not repairable at home unless you buy (or somehow borrow) the reprogramming toot.

I would like it if phones switch to screws and a rubber gasket instead of glue, if not then maybe a little notch for a slightly bigger gap for the pry tool to fit in. Like how the old plastic removable battery covers had a spot for the fingernail to pull the cover off.

Also, in Czechia they can legally hold your product for 30 calendar days in service. True, many times they give you back the product after 20 calendar days. Still, you will be without a phone for 20 days. Either you have a back-up phone, or you need to buy new one.
Many people buy new products or second hand products with 12 months warranties, thinking they will have no issues for 1-2 years. If only it will be the case.

I had many bad experiences with warranties. And in majority of cases, I just ended up buying another similar product.
In the end is lottery. And people should be very careful from which brands they buy the product. I am 100% sure, a manufacturer like Samsung or Apple has better quality than something like OnePlus (of course, if you make the comparison ratio based on the quantities of the phones they sell).
Also, a new product that was opened inside and repaired, will never be the same like the new one. Never.

That's why I like cheap phones. If anything bad happens to it (even in warranty), I just buy another one and sell the old one when it returns from warranty.

If consumers wouldn't buy such "unrepairable" devices then manufacturers would be forced to develop easy to repair smartphones.
Before I buy a new device I always check how easy it's to repair. If you want manufacturers to change they way they construct their products you first have to change your purchase behaviour.

You shouldn't ever need to open this phone, or any other phone for that matter. That's just how they are made these days. Having a metal unibody confirms that fact.

Phones should come with user replaceable shells. So we can easily get a new like body after the old one wears out.

I've watched that video before this. That's to be expected when it's a metal unibody. If you're repairing this phone, get ready to also pay for the replacement for some parts that's gonna break when disassembling it. Unless you did repairs through OnePlus themselves.

I'm still waiting for coolsmartphones's review on their drop test, as shown from TechEdit. An Indian channel did some water test too but they're still testing their drop tests.
