The Galaxy A03s that you mentioned is a repackaged Galaxy A12.
It's different nowadays. The Galaxy A05s is nothing like the Galaxy A14 4G (good riddance, the Galaxy A14 4G was awful)
Therefore, it's meaningless to compare the old A0Xs line to the new A0Xs line.

The fingerprint reader is a welcome edition and the side of the chassis is different so not exactly the same as A05 hardware wise, but internally on the software side it's a carbon copy.

But that addition of fingerprint alone is a very big upgrade in this price class. I personally would not want to have do without biometrics on a phone anymore. My opinion on what a phone should offer at the very least is
- big A7x cores
- fingerprint
- NFC
- full Android not Android Go (which also means at least 3GB RAM, though 4 or 6 are really better)
So this moves the A0x line much closer to fulfilling that. NFC might not even be needed for some users but it still irks me when it’s missing for the cases when it’s needed, because it has been standard on high end phones for over 10 years.
