LoneOwl, 13 Aug 2024Looking forward to the underwhelming benchmark results of t... moreI do the same with the next 8 Gen 4. Plus literally no one cares because no one uses their smartphone to play Xbox games.

idkBg091, 13 Aug 2024Yall crying cuz the tensor chip is again not as powerful as... moreYou do have a point but keep in mind screen refresh rates weren't 60 or 90 like they used to be and are now pushing towards 120hz to 144hz. This means more power is needed to keep the fps stable and prevent stuttering and a bigger battery is needed for longevity. If phones were stuck on 60hz your argument is sound.

Many of us agree that once you get used to higher refresh rates it's hard to go back especially on phones where we read a lot or do a lot of scrolling.

idkBg091, 13 Aug 2024Yall crying cuz the tensor chip is again not as powerful as... moreIt is worse than E2400 in every single way.
      That is the issue.

      I'd rather have 7g3 instead.

Yall crying cuz the tensor chip is again not as powerful as the competition but let me tell you this, ever since the snapdragon 888 chip the performance has not evolved in such way that you need to run and upgrade, you literally get 5+ fps different.
the main difference that you gone see/feel is power consumption and that is a valid reason to upgrade but clearly all y'all talk about is Geekbench

Where do the 11 extra grams of weight come from? The battery has barely more capacity that can’t be the reason

Who buys a pixel? Almost nobody. People buy iphone or Samsung. That's it.

                    I'm disappointed by Pixel 9 series (pretending), I don't see any reason to switch to Pixel 9 phones when Pixel 8 is on sale with discounts;
-Same Android version with Pixel 8 series.
-OK, cameras might have been improved but Pixel 8 series has great cameras.
-Tensor G4 is a slight improvement over G3.
                    Etc.

Just get Pixel 8 phones, or wait for Pixel 10 series (TSMC-produced TG5). Pixel 9 is just... unlogical.

                            Nothing to see here. Next!

zaryan, 13 Aug 2024the most boring pixel refresh everThey completely butchered the Pixel design language. Except for the first one, every single Google Pixel has had curved edges. The whole camera visor was a distinctive design that also had ergonomic benefits, and changing it to a camera pill makes it both look less distinctive — and dare I say, ugly — and completely removes that ergonomic advantage. The same could be said about making the edges and frame completely flat.

The new Tensor chip is still underwhelming in both performance and efficiency; the storage capacity still starts at 128GB and is still of the UFS 3.1 variety; and for some seemingly unknowable reason, Google decided it was perfectly acceptable to do analog binning to achieve a 42MP resolution for the selfie camera, even though they used an unmatched sensor for it, the 50MP IMX858 (so 12.5MP after binning). What's the advantage in having only 10.5MP selfies over 12.5MP, Google? Why not use the sensor to its fullest capabilities? Why did you this, Google, WHY?!?

Also, the ultrawide is downgraded for the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL, which is quite frankly just ridiculous. All of these issues just make me want to switch brands, even if their Now Playing feature (basically Shazam but on steriods, even having offline song libraries for offline song recognition — and all of this, for basically no storage use and way less than 1% of battery consumption) is just too good to lose.

Anonymous, 13 Aug 2024incorrect prices. Yep, I updated the table with the correct prices.

considering this pixel has android 14 instead of android 15 so it is gonna get same number of os updates as pixel 8 and changes are minor so why don't we buy the pixel 8 at a discounted price
