prasad-gsma, 29 Aug 2024You're already on the latest update. Someone on Reddit is claiming that a new firmware update 129.129.036 fixed the sound quality on the Dynaudio Featured preset. Any way you can find out if this is indeed the case?

        I received 112.112.036.
121.121.036 is now available but I haven't updated it. With version 112 it's perfect.

Update 121.121.036 (for EU) is available.
Compared to my Oneplus Buds 2 Pro, the 3 Pro have only minimal besser Noise Canceling, but definitly not worth of upgrading. Also the Sound ist quite not good as the 2 Pro.

The basswave also increase the lower freq intensity on top of amplify them I think. Slightly different from EQ.
Does the firmware update actually bring a "bose" style audio profile with muddy and invasive base? sounds like it... 😂

After seeing the Youtube reviewers and even the GSMA review I am left with a burning question: why is everyone pretending the OnePlus Buds 3 do not exist -or- that these "Pro" buds do not have to deliver something above the already existing (and cheaper) OnePlus Buds 3 -- mind you that until very recently it was widely claimed "OnePlus will not make a Pro model this year, these are already the Pro version at a cheaper price."

              Comments?

                RIght on!

LHDC v5 does the trick with Hi-Res Stability at 900Kbps ... yet supposedly these are cable of 1Mbps 24-bit at 192kHz frequencies!!

Is there any way to revert back to original firmware, or sideload it???? May be if you get in touch with developers at XDA they will come out with some solution...

Tompi, 21 Aug 2024Fw version? Which is good and which is bad?111.111.036 is the original. 119.119.036 is the latest.

                      Fw version?
Which is good and which is bad?

„ Outside of audio quality, the Buds Pro 3 is a very well-made product“

Considering they are headphones what you write is they are basically trash

This is why you want to just get a product that is good from the get go. Not one that either relies on software updates or uses software updates to change its character or ruin what people liked. Imagine if they just added a new preset instead of nuking it.

Reminds me of how Wong Kar Wai ruined his masterpieces with recent Blu ray releases. Compare the 4k blu ray and the older 1080p one (2021 vs 2012/ of In The Mood For Love and then the change of aspect ratio of Fallen Angels. Even if someone can be a master who has made masterpieces, they can also ruin stuff up later.

Btw I just noticed the reviewer was listening to the Lord Of The Frenzied Flame track. That stuff is kino fr, didn't like the boss that much but the soundtrack made it worth it. Gud stuff.

Anonymous, 21 Aug 2024As they DID with smartphones. Not anymore.Yeah, a bit less for the screen but they added stress testing, so I'm still content with their phone reviews.

Same sound and features as redmi buds 5 pro. Does not deserve paying 100$ more.

"beautifully balanced bass and mid-range with bright sparkling highs and replaced with what now sounds like listening to your car audio while standing outside the car" ... LOL

A pity you didn't test the golden sound feature, I've heard it does magic in improving sound quality.

Overall, it's disappointing that you don't want to take the earbuds reviews to a more serious level (do more measurements, charts , tests, graphs, etc.) as you do with smartphones.

Yikes, how can one manage to turn their product from good to trash in a single small update? I really hope for them that it was an accident and will be returned to the previous state. That being said, I hate how these seemingly try to get a slice of the Samsung Buds 3 Pro cake. The previous model was names Oneplus Buds Pro 2, so swapping the name around seems to convenient to be an accident. Shame on you, Oneplus.

Anonymous, 20 Aug 2024wow, the sound section is refreshingly harsh, brutally hone... moreYeah, I've already watched a few reviews of these prior to reading GSMA's review and none mentioned the update that ruined that preset in question so I found that great info.

I'm no audiophile by any means and have never owned audiophile grade earbuds/headphones so my point of reference is pretty average to decently good pair of earbuds but it's good to hear all the details here that I didn't see anyone else mention.

These seem like pretty good value for money especially at the $149 price. I don't know how much of an upgrade it would be over my Pixel Buds Pro's now. I'm a bit salty about the price of the Pixel Buds Pro 2's even with the $30 Amazon giftcard promo going on right now which brings it down to the $199 MSRP of the first PBP's but I feel like these would be more of an improvement in terms of good audio fundamentals than the PBP2 would be over the PBP1.
