If you read my earlier comment carefully, I said that the battery 'consumption' for 4-5 hrs SOT in a day is 55-60%, so you end the day with 40-45% battery remaining. And this is with majority of time being connected to WiFi (when connected to Mobile network for most of the time, you end the day with 20-30%).

I have the 8 since the release and it has never done this with 60% battery left.

Just for clarification though, my phone is connected to a wi-fi network 80% of the time. But even on the days I am travelling, I end up with around 20-30% battery remaining at the end of the day. So getting a full day worth of usage, even with 5 hrs SOT on LTE is not a problem at all.

If what you say is true, 4-5 hrs of SoT with almost half battery left that too on mobile data, that's fantastic man. I am also a very light user. And regarding network too, you say it's on par with other phones, so that's good to know.
PS: Of course you are right regarding the price. The 9 shouldn't be that much more than the 8, but google always launches at extremely high launch price only to see a huge discount in coming months. Although the heavy discounts mainly come in the US.

Both the signal quality and battery life are more than decent. I am a moderate user, and with 4-5 hour of SOT, my daily battery consumption is 55-60% (preferred network: LTE , Bluetooth and Location always on). Signal reception is also on par with what I see on other devices in my house or office.
I'd say therefore that although these areas have seen good improvements, it would not be reason enough for spending extra on Pixel 9.
In my view Pixel 9 can command a maximum premium of 20-30% over Pixel 8 based on the improvements it offers. Nothing more than that.

Anonymous, 30 Aug 2024Loudeness not equal to better quality sound.Ill quote 'the Pixel 8 has better audio quality with better vocals and overall richer output.
Even in the 9s review they've mentioned lack of bass/ thin sounding but then notes better speakers as a pro vs the 8..

Traded my 7 pro for the 9 pro XL. The screen is MUCH brighter, the battery does last longer & I've noticed the SIGNAL is stronger. With the trade in & store credit it wasn't a hard decision.

The Pixels finally arrived to my country, well officially as some retailers imported pixels but i wasn't willing to pay so much extra.
Now that i could get an good deal from the official retailers and got to test the 9 i'm not that sure if Pixel 9 Pro (nit the XL) is the right choise the vanilla 9 had pretty good review on GSMA but can't help to wonder if Magic6 Pro would be the better choise or even samsung S23 (here S24/+ has exynos and basicly nothing olse over S23).
But yeah would want to uograde 4 years old phone, but it still rocks hard

You forgot to mention the newer modem (better reception and more efficient) and the Ultrasonic Fingerprint Reader. The 9 also has the newer Gorilla Victus 2 Protection. These changes may seem minor, but result in a overall better device for day-to-day use.

coolg54321, 30 Aug 2024Eventhough im not an iPhone user and i don't like iOS ... moreApple is not that good at optimization because they have a superior chip than Qualcomm, but it still doesn't translate to day to day performance. Meaning android manufacturers are the ones optimizing, Apple just rides on the raw strength of the chip.

In the text you wrote quote 'while both offer similar loudness, the Pixel 8 has better audio quality with better vocals and overall richer output'. And then at the verdict/summary you wrote quote 'Get the Google Pixel 9 for: Better speakers.'! Guys how unprofessional is that.? How can can you make such compromising mistakes? Sorry but shame on whoever produced this article.

If most of the reviews on the pixel 9 are right then it has much better battery life. And the new modem results in better signal reception. Now these two were the main problems with the pixels. If those are indeed fixed with the 9 then it doesn't make sense to go for the older models.

I bought a Pixel 9 to replace my 8. I returned it a day later. It's just way bigger/more cumbersome in the hand and basically no benefit over the 8.
